Windhorse Integrative Mental Health, a small non-profit founded in 1993, is seeking housemates to live with clients for our Portland, OR community. Windhorse is a semi-residential therapeutic community that uses a mindfulness and relationship-based philosophy in working with individuals experiencing health issues such as depression, psychosis and trauma.

Our care model consists of a team of 4+ clinicians who work together and each spend a tremendous amount of 1-on-1 time with clients. A housemate’s role is to cohabitate in a two-bedroom apartment with a client and share one meal together per day. Housemates are compensated for their role through free rent/utilities, monthly stipend for food, plus a bi-weekly paycheck of $583. Housemates may be in school or have up to 25 hours of work outside the home per week. A generous level of support and training is offered by our senior staff for this position—it is a great opportunity for those who feel an affinity toward psychology, counseling or social work and would like to gain direct experience in the field. If you’d like to facilitate client healing and are moved by the therapeutic community model, we highly encourage you to reach out!
