Hello all,

Thanks for clicking 🙂 I’m a mid thirties guy with a decade of exploration in various spiritual community and community community settings, currently living in connection with a beautiful community in Appalachia. I love it here and the people I live with and, my heart longs for the wilds I grew up with and to be closer to family as the feedback loops of climate breakdown accelerate.

I’m in contact with a growing group of people, both in and outside of Montana, who are interested in beginning a conversation about what cultivating land-based community could look like in the coming decade. What I mean by land-based is growing into an orientation of wilderness at the center of any listening/participating/community building. Part of this could be called “animism,” living with an awareness of the ongoing dreaming of all of life and the way places respond to human reciprocity and intention. Not as metaphor, but as lived experience, a widening of sensory gating to be able to perceive a larger bandwidth of reality.

We’re looking for people who resonate with this, and who value a soul-based spirituality. By this I mean an orientation to embodiedness, dreams, the full spectrum of human emotions including grief, and a willingness to face the stark realities of our times with an awareness of the temptation to spiritually bypass. Part of our framework is that we will, in our lifetimes, likely experience the collapse of globalized systems due to economic, climatic, and political forces. We are looking for folks willing to step into a resilience orientation and hold a vision that is many generations wider than our own personal lives.

So far we are a group of ceremonialists/wilderness guides/mental health professionals with various other skillsets such as building, growing food, hunting, herbal medicine, nutrition, art/writing/creative education and trauma-healing modalities. We acknowledge that there are potentially multiple decades left of living with the system as it is, and exist with a foot in capitalist realities as activists and dissenters, offering time, skills, and resources to decolonial organizations and populations. That means working, while this system continues, as mental health professionals, builders, chefs, etc while also investing time and energy into regenerative activities, food forests, etc. We are not martyrs and value financial stability and are excited to consider community living that makes ample room for autonomy. Something more communal than co-housing but less communal than a commune 🙂

We are interested in folks who have done a good bit of inner-healing work and approach community with the humility of knowing it’s not if but when the shit comes up, and who have the willingness to see their own shadows/wounds/projections and take responsibility for them. We are also looking for folks who have a deep connection (or a willingness to cultivate one) to nature.

If this strikes your body in that way that feels like electricity, we’d love to hear from you.
