Simply Home Community is a beautiful intentional community on 2/3 acre in the Cully neighborhood in NE Portland (established in 2014). Right now one space to plant a Tiny Home (please no RVs or campers) is available in our community. $350 per month rent, plus an equal share of utilities.
The spot has 30a/240v electrical hookup, city water, internet, and greywater disposal. No sewer hookups.
All races, colors, national origins, religions, gender identities, and sexual orientations are welcome. We are especially excited about welcoming folx who identify as AAPI, BIPOC and/or LGBTQ.
Wanted: relaxed person or couple who find it fairly easy to live in community with other people, folks with strong process and communication skills, folks who want to jump in and help (we do a lot of projects in our community), folks who embrace human diversity in all its forms. We’re looking for people who are kind, emotionally mature, and excited to live in a community with kids.
Indoor pets only please.
There are currently 2 tiny houses (maybe you’ll be the 3rd!) on our land plus 2 traditional sized houses (one with a laundry, indoor community space, kitchen & bulk pantry), a wood shop, bike shop, bike storage, and ample, generous garden space!
Required of all members is a monthly contribution of 6 work hours toward the community (land maintenance, building projects, community upkeep, chores) and attendance of one community meeting per month.
We host community potlucks every Sunday (attendance optional) and some holiday celebrations (winter solstice, summer solstice, spring equinox, etc). Every fall we go on a community retreat together (often to the beach, usually the first weekend in October).
We share chores and yard work, play board games, watch movies, etc. We enjoy doing projects together. We have a workshop with shared tools.
Currently 8 people live in our community. We range in age from 4-45. We have a variety of beliefs and worldviews, from Atheism to earth spirituality to semi-paganism. We collectively have many interests and hobbies including gardening, ritual, carpentry, ecstatic dancing, video games, yoga, reading, hiking, cycling, playing music, RPGs, community organizing, and many more!
We are socially conscious, emotionally intelligent, and everything (Poly, LGBTQ, open relationships, whatever) friendly. We are mindful of our environment and what gets put down our drains, we have community agreements about chemical usage.
There are opportunities to gain equity in the property for folks who have lived with us for at least two years and who get along well with our community.
We aren’t going to jump into anything, we need to find someone who fits in with all of us. You’ll have to come over and hang out a few times so we can all get to know each other. We also have written community living agreements and written community values you’d have to agree to.
Write and tell us about you! Tell us about your passions and hobbies, your past experiences with community living, and why you want to live in an intentional community at this time.
