Looking for emotionally mature, self-motivated, persons wanting to farm with nature and help create some kind of community land trust on a 54 acre farm purchased in 1985. Land is approximately 30 acres wetland pasture the rest farm & pasture land with a couple acres of sellable ornamental trees, approximately 20 miles East of Tampa. It’s a flag lot with a 40’X 200’ drive. The land has been subdivided into 2 parcels; 1 acre and the remainder the other. Presently growing vegetables for farmers markets, small herd of water buffalo (mainly for milk) pastured, in the pasted raised pigs in electric fencing, small flock of chickens, (mainly for eggs), etc. We grow a small amount of sugarcane and make syrup with an old mill and wood-fired kettle. We sell as organic, but are not USDA Certified. We have a small orchard area with a variety of fruit trees. Also grow eatable plants in containers. Believe in the principles of permaculture and other proven sustainable farm practices. Actively working toward a smaller carbon foot print We’re the first to do a Grid-tie Solar System with our utility company and are active in sustainable living issues, groups, etc. For 23 years (off and on) we have tried to start an Intentional Community (www.ic.org) and have a little extra housing and have experience living peacefully with others. We have woodworking, farming, and a farm equipment repair shop where we still do a little repair work for others. Presently buildings are getting old and need maintenance. Owner are old folks that would like to keep an active role in farming. We have one son presently not interested in the farm, but 2 grandchildren that may be. We have one middle age man helping for here 2 years and treat Joe as a community member with Debbie (wife) & I   Climate Change, Permaculture, Weston A.
