About Our Community:

This is a 1940 apartment complex that we’ve converted to rental cohousing. We are currently a community of six households with the potential to grow to 9. We’re constructing a common house, which is scheduled to be finished in 2023.

We love to gather in our beautiful courtyard. This kept us from being isolated during the pandemic, especially those of us who are single and working from home.

Even in this urban space there are lots of places to grow flowers and food. The bees and hummingbirds love our garden, and we’re growing tomatoes, figs, cucumbers, squash, string beans and peas.

Our community is going strong, with scheduled meals, ad hoc socializing and some fun camping trips, so it’s wonderful that these apartments have finally opened up for cohousers.

Although we are small, the community participation expectations are comparatively low, because a lot of the community participation responsibilities that most communities have, are the responsibility of the owner, in this rental model. We mostly participate in fun things like socializing around the fire, barbequeing, working in our garden and going for walks. This is a wonderful place to work from home, in a light-filled garden apartment with a patio right outside your door. There is also convenient freeway access for commuters, and easy walking distance to shopping.

The available apartments are both one bedroom homes, recently renovated with an eye to preserving the 1940’s charm. The rent will be $1,795.

  • Quiet, well-behaved pets considered.
  • One off-street parking space.
  • Water and garbage are included in the rent.
