The Phoenix Farm & Retreat — Seeking Regenerative Farmers, Land Stewards & Community Members (Northeast Ohio)

The Phoenix Farm & Retreat is a long-term regenerative agriculture and community project in Northeast Ohio. We are transforming a traditional family farm into a collaborative, land-based community centered around soil regeneration, animal stewardship, ecological living, and shared purpose.

This is a multi-phase project that will grow over time. Early development is underway, and we are now accepting applications from individuals who want to live, work, contribute skills, and help shape the farm as it evolves.

ABOUT THE LAND

The farm includes open pasture, wooded areas, a creek, and space for market gardens, orchards, rotational grazing, and regenerative systems. It has been in traditional use for decades and is now transitioning toward practices focused on:

  • Soil rebuilding

  • Low-impact land management

  • Regenerative livestock programs

  • Perennial and annual food systems

  • Biodiversity and ecological restoration

  • Thoughtful, community-centered development

WHAT WE ARE BUILDING

Our long-term vision includes:

  • Regenerative agriculture and livestock systems

  • Market gardens and perennial food forests

  • Communal and private garden plots

  • Farm-to-table culinary elements

  • Nature and walking spaces

  • Retreat lodging (already in development)

  • Workshops, classes, and community events

  • Small-scale wellness and creative offerings

  • A team of long-term community members helping steward the land

This is not an instant community. It will grow steadily through shared work, alignment, and commitment.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We welcome individuals who want to contribute real value to the land and the project. Experience or interest in any of the following is helpful:

Regenerative Agriculture

  • Market gardening

  • Soil building and composting

  • Perennial and annual food systems

  • Beekeeping

  • Orchard development

  • Greenhouse management

  • Animal care (cattle, poultry, small livestock)

Trades & Building

  • Carpentry

  • Natural building

  • General maintenance

  • Fencing

  • Water systems

  • General labor

Community & Hospitality Roles

  • Chefs / farm-to-table cooking

  • Cleaners and groundskeepers

  • Retreat support roles

  • Event or workshop hosting

  • Wellness practitioners (optional)

General Community Members

People who may not have specialized skills but are dependable, community-minded, and willing to work hard and learn.

We value individuals who are grounded, respectful, self-directed, and willing to engage in collaborative work. This is a place for people who want to build something meaningful rather than simply occupy space.

HOUSING EXPECTATIONS

Because this is early-stage development:

  • Housing is not provided

  • We are prioritizing individuals with RVs, tiny homes on wheels, vans, or movable housing

  • OR people willing to create their own temporary dwelling (with approval)

Multiple locations on the land are suitable for RV or tiny home placement as infrastructure expands.

FINANCIAL & WORK ARRANGEMENTS

This is not a free-rent or fully volunteer situation. It is also not a traditional employment arrangement. Instead, opportunities may include:

  • Reduced rent in exchange for work or skills

  • Work-trade for specific responsibilities

  • Long-term partnership development for highly committed contributors

  • Income earning opportunities

All arrangements are individualized based on skills, alignment, and contribution.
