Seeking a new family or person(s) to join our Family Based Homestead Community on 15 acres in the redwoods of Sonoma County – Northern California.

Please read the whole post before reaching out. And to help us with not getting an overflow of messages, please reach out only if you are proactively interested. Also feel free to share our contact if you know someone that may be a good fit.

🙂
Hi!

We are currently 4 small households consisting of 5 adults and 3 children (2, 2 & 3 years old), 1 Great Pyrenees, 2 kitties, and a flock of chickens on a 15 acre homestead community in Occidental.

2-3 acres of the property is where the community inhabits individual homes, shared common house, & small farm. The remainder of the 15 acres is redwood forest and remains a sacred space that residents explore and steward. The community is 2 years old and is still in the creation stage of establishing. We are just exciting the first chapter with a big focus on building living spaces and infrastructure and are moving to a time of more focus on farming, circle culture and refining our non physical systems (which we have already put plenty of energy into). We are learning as we go and would love to explore new things with others – maybe you!

Current Housing Options:
1. A newly built 24 ft yurt (approximately 500 sq ft) with a deck, wood stove, sink, out door bath and shower & compost toilet. Approx $1500/month.
2. RV or Tiny House parking space. A leveled parking spot to bring your own home space! This has access to electric and water hook up. $850/month
3. Newly Built Dual Tiny home with 2 separate living spaces over looking the redwoods and stones throw from our new bath house.  $1700/m0.   Great for parent(s) with child(ren) or 2 individuals wanting to live near but not with each other. This might also be an option if you are a person coming by yourself.

These numbers are approximate for now, as we pay a total rent amount for the land as structures as a community and might decide to make some adjustments.

In addition to inhabiting one of these spaces, there is full access to the shared 15 acre property including a 1000+ sq ft open layout shared communal space that has a full kitchen, dining, living room, yoga/dance space, office zone. As well as a soon-to-be-finished shared bathhouse.

Important:
Living together in this community is like being a part of a tight knit family. This is not just a place to rent. This is a place to be in village with other people tending community heart, stewarding land and farm, creative collective monetary avenues, co-raising children. With this, finding someone that is mutually a good fit is important for everyone.   We are family friendly, regenerative land stewards looking to live in a more connected grounded way than this modern world offers.   One that cherishes connection and treats each other like family.

The family and person(s) we are looking can say that they are:

  • interested or have experience in homesteading, permaculture, land based living and everything that goes into it (ex: seeking closed loop systems in sustainability, gardening, building, etc)
  • has lived in or has experience/basic understanding or ready to get the full experience of intentional communities
  • Ready to be in family vibes with others on the land (ex: shared meals, gatherings, land tending, projects, co-parenting
  • works and collaborates well with others on a consistent basis
  • is able to find harmony and navigate emotional challenges with others in healthy ways (ex: Non-violent communication)
  • Is taking initiative in personal growth and self awareness

Some things that are preferred but not necessary for the new family:

  • Comfortable with Children
  • Building/carpentry knowledge/experience
  • Small scale farming and gardening knowledge/experience
  • Ready to walk and tend the land and disconnect a bit from the modern tech world

If this sounds like something you are ready to explore, the next steps would be to reach out to us with a personalized message via email with proposed days/times to have a meet & greet video call and/or in person meet up. If after the call/meet up, it feels like a mutual fit to explore further, we would love to get to know you through visits to our property and hang outs together. Next steps beyond this we can talk about in person 🙂

Thank you so much! We are grateful for these platforms and the potential of meeting new friends/landmates!
