Overview

Prototype 237 is a unique intentional community focused on performance and art in a former garment warehouse in Paterson, NJ. Our community hearths are a beautiful stage (with pro lighting and sound) and a large and loaded communal kitchen.

You will share the floor with 4 other artists and art-supporters and our amazing house dog, Tuck. We host 10-12 mostly musical performances each month, share family meals, create and maintain the space together. We have air-conditioning, heat, large open kitchen, 1 residents-only bathroom and a public bathroom, woodshop, stage, garden, and office, and a freight elevator to bring up groceries and gear.

We have created and continue to develop a vibrant community full of life, color, music, art, inspiration, and creativity. Open use of the stage and space to develop your art. We genuinely like each other and are extremely accepting of different viewpoints, experiences, and preferences. We also contribute hugely to each other’s lives.

Must be 21 years old of any race, origin, profession, perspective, preferences, or artistic-medium, and be willing and committed to open communication and making or supporting the making of art. Residents are expected to attend monthly family meetings and to help maintain the space by cleaning, servicing, cooking, and assisting some with events. Residents are also expected to be kind, accepting, and tolerant to each other and guests.
