Hi, this is Zach and Hailey. We are building a Regenerative community in southern Vermont on 11.5 beautiful acres of woodland. With some space in the process of being cleared for community gardens. There is a cabin with a full bath and a large kitchen that is communal. And currently, the available space is a trailer that sleeps up to 4 people, two adults and two kids. It has its own bathroom and a small kitchen space. Other spaces on the land could accommodate camping in the warmer months while we, as a community, build each other’s homes. We welcome community members who have their own tiny homes to bring. Our dream is to have people come build natural structures to live in and share the already existing cabin for larger amenities. We want to operate around sharing meals and helping with day-to-day tasks like cooking, chopping firewood, gardening, building projects, herbalism, childcare, and community education. We have over a decade of experience is human scale natural structures that are a joy to craft, cost very little, and the whole family can engage in the artful process. We believe in small structures that are sculpted around personal needs. Our goal is to have a village of small homes gathered around the common cabin. We grow using no-till, biodynamic practices. We have been certified in permacultural design. And eat a high protien Plant- based diet. Our goal is to be capable of feeding the whole community from food we grow locally. The following is a collection of books that we have found inspiring, which illustrate aspects of community that we wish to cultivate. “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” by Annie Barrows & Mary Ann Shaffer We love the free form but earnestly engaged and dynamically represented way that this group meets together and engages intellectually and as friends. As well as how they weather challenging times, making each other stronger in the face of adversity by creating a cozy culture that brings sweetness to the darkest times. “Dies the Fire Trilogy” by S.M. Stirling We love the Community resourcefulness and the way they collaborate to solve problems and meet needs. As well as how they use a strong community identity to build a sense of interpersonal continuity and ownership of making the community a place that they want their posterity to live. Routinely, people will set out to solve problems that would make the community more secure. And those who can’t help directly are quick to find a way to support. This story also illustrates how communities can develop a sense of inner continuity and pride by gathering around the development of a particular set of skills that make you feel unified and formidable as a community. It also illustrates having community rituals that help ground and connect the community, keeping them on the same page as far as where you are in the wheel of the year and what needs to be done now to fulfill the potential of the season, as well as helping community members feel seen, needed, and nurtured in the seasons of their own lives. “The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings” by J.R.R. Tolkien “If more of us valued food, song, and cheer above horded gold, it would be a merrier world.” We wish to build small hobbit holes, and that means comfort. And all hobbits (Earthen Grove community members) share a love for things that grow. Small houses with small gardens tucked in around larger fields, orchards, and forests. And occasionally embarking on adventures together, even if it might make us late for dinner. “The Hand-sculpted House” by Ianto Evans, Michael G Smith, and Linda Smiley This inspiring book on human-scale natural building is really good at helping to redefine what ideal human habitation looks like. And how to truly sculpt a place of belonging that fits you like a glove and makes you feel more like yourself in a truly wonderful way. We are cultivating a community spirit of contentedly connected, earnestly engaged, and artfully present people. Who flow through work and play, thought and song, story and stillness; secure in a sense of belonging, inspired by a sense of responsibility, and healed by living in the epicenter of your own artistic blosoming. This Spotify playlist represents a color palette of music that resonates with the vibe we presently carry. Peasanty, profound, timeless, earthy, mythological, wholesome work, natural insight, or adventure-oriented. vocal, and Acoustic.

Prairie Hill Cohousing, the first cohousing community in Iowa, welcomed its first four households in March 2018. By the first anniversary in 2019, more than half the 37 homes had been sold and the Common House had been completed. As of June 2023, all of our homes have been sold and moved into. Prairie Hill Cohousing is a multigenerational Ecovillage on a nearly 8-acre infill site in a cosmopolitan city of 70,000. We are located on a bus line and near biking and walking trails about a mile from the University of Iowa and downtown Iowa City. Prairie Hill is adjacent to a small city park and near another large multifaceted city park. There are numerous restaurants and businesses to meet most of a person’s everyday needs within walking or biking distance of Prairie Hill. Over four acres of our site is being used for gardens, prairie, orchard, and open space. We have been awarded state grants to support sustainable stormwater management practices on our site. As we continue to develop the open space and the land around our homes, we are following permaculture principles. Committed to being a diverse, inclusive community, we are especially interested in attracting families with children. Current members range in age from 8 to 80. We include current and retired teachers, librarians, professors, a mediator, engineers, social workers, a landscape designer, a massage therapist, an editor, writers, a professional genealogist, and specialists in affordable housing. Homes range from studio apartments in our Common House to two-story, two- or three-bedroom duplexes. Other homes are configured as four-plexes, single-story townhouses, and one-story duplexes. Our smallest homes are 515 square feet and the largest are 1,290 square feet. All homes are super-insulated and built to meet Energy Star and LEED certification standards. Many have installed solar panels on their roofs. Iowa City ranks high in many national ratings of desirable communities, including 4th best place to live in America, according to the 2019 livability.org index. It has top-ranked public schools, a major research university and world-class university teaching hospital, a thriving arts and entertainment culture, free summer festivals, and Big Ten sports. It was the first UNESCO City of Literature in the country, home to the renowned Iowa Writers’ Workshop and excellent independent bookstores. Iowa City and the University of Iowa have silver ratings as a bicycle-friendly community and university, respectively according to the League of American Bicyclists. The city was the site for the first event in the 2019 World Cyclo-Cross World Cup series of international races.

We are a unique, small community located just outside Minneapolis near lakes and shopping. We value diversity, and have varying incomes. Our 15 households currently include people of ages 10 through 85, singles and couples, with and without children. Occupations include computer programmers, artists, teachers, therapists, caregivers, scientists, architect, piano teacher, executive director, gardener, and more. Our traditions include parties, campfires, sing-alongs, game nights, house concerts, solstice celebration, etc. Community meals and “co-chats” (spontaneous conversations) are the glue that hold the community together. We self-manage, and value working together. The community has an abundance of common space, including a large living room, library, kitchen, dining room, three-season porch, four working fireplaces, exercise room, wood shop, laundry room, children’s playroom, and office. Outdoor common space includes lawns with picnic areas, a play area, a vegetable garden, and an acre of woods. The grounds are lovingly landscaped; we often see deer and wild turkeys roaming through our property. Homes include eight retrofit coop apartments in an American Colonial mansion and seven townhomes built for the community. The two buildings are connected by a tunnel, which removes the weather as an obstacle to getting together. Home size ranges roughly from 400 to 1600 sq ft. Our community grows from working together and shared experience.

Hi, thanks for your interest. We’re looking for new friends who want to live with us who have an interest in permaculture, simple living close to nature, DIY, rustic (we’re off-grid), egalitarian minded, self-motivated individuals who don’t need someone to “manage” them however they also work well with others. We’ve been here for 20 years but in many ways are still in the baby stages of the community because so much potential exists. We want a healthy atmosphere that supports personal growth and love for one another and the Earth. A good place to raise children. Super privileged/entitled people not a good fit. We prefer non-nicotine users and folks who might only use other substances in small amounts or on occasion. We are looking for people who have a desire to form a family of friends/close neighbors to live and work together to mutually support and uplift one another. It can be challenging to live here because it’s so rustic and different than mainstream however it’s a good situation for some people. Might be good opportunity for a young family, LBGTQ+ welcome. We’ve got 12.7 acres, young permaculture food forest, 30×60 high tunnel hoop-house, pond, gardens, it’s too much for just us 🙂 We value feminism, permaculture, cooperation, open communication, simplicity, honesty, nonviolence, and the willingness to resolve conflict. We are located in rural northeast Missouri positioned within a network of other intentional communities. We have an annual garden, a high-tunnel hoop house, and a young orchard of fruit, nut, and timber trees, all which we garden organically. As far as buildings go, we live in a bermed-in small house with attached greenspace, there is a tiny home guest house, a small uninsulated cabin, and a more recently constructed building to house visitors that still needs some finishing touches but is livable. We have many systems in place, and we aim to keep our lifestyle simple, yet fulfilling. It means a lot to us to have control over our own time. Dandelion is a sub-community of Red Earth Farms. (see redearthfarms.org) Our goal is to become a family-style group of 6-14 adults, and we are open to children as well. More living space will need to be constructed as our population increases. We are looking for self-motivated individuals to join and help grow this egalitarian, family-style sub-community. People who value simple living, personal growth, living in alignment with the universe, living closely with the earth, not spending a whole lot of money, regenerative/sustainable living, non-violent and direct, honest and open communication. Prior community experience helpful. Prior experience living rustic helpful. Enjoy growing, preparing and eating healthy, delicious food a plus. This is a rustic setting (no running water/hot water on demand/indoor shower, no washer/dryer or other high-draw appliances). We have telephone and internet, and a small off-grid electical system. We want others to bring their skills and creative energy to come help Dandelion blossom into an active, thriving sub-community.

A healthy older couple, with 20 acres, lots of assets just sitting, with full knowledge of homesteading, standard and alternative construction, permaculture, regenerative living, animal husbandry and growing stuff seeks community. The place is a mess, but changing daily for the better. No fragrances, smoking, toxic chemical or wifi allowed on premises due to health issues. We’re good teachers, looking to share with wanna be farmers/homesteaders. Provide your own off grid accommodations, we are not picky. Cover the cost of your living here, and we can work together for the benefit of us all. We have one 40 something male living in his camperized van. He enjoys being the grunt labor, but does not want to be in charge of anything, and is not a self starter. For the right people, there are farming enterprises that can be built and be profitable, but you will need to support yourself to get there. We own the 20 acres, but we farm the 40 next door as well without a long term contract on it. Currently we have 2 pure bred Jersey cows and Jersey mix cow with her bull calf. We are in the process of replacing 30 year old fencing, rebuilding the garden beds and creating a chicken complex. Another project for this year is an off grid water supply.

We have an amazing piece of land assembled with 7-14 housing units already on it. It’s on 450′ of Cross Lake shoreline, walking distance to dozens of shops & restaurants, there is a great spot for a shared garden and community room. We don’t live there yet, but in 2030 (after our kids graduate from high school) we plan to make it our home and hope to share it with cool people who dig the idea sharing a weekly vegan meal together, using the common room for card tournaments, movie nights, or morning yoga. The long term goal is to create a Planned Unit Development or PUD either as an HOA or a Coop so we can sell the existing townhomes and single family homes while maintaining a common beach area and community room. Until then all the properties are leased separately. We furnish the units to make it easy to sample life there.

Set in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Crozet, Virginia, Innisfree Village was founded in 1971 as a creative alternative for adults with intellectual disabilities. More than a program or service, Innisfree is a life-sharing community where adults with disabilities, known as coworkers, and residential volunteers live and work side by side on our 550-acre farm.
A Community Built on Contribution
Life at Innisfree is rooted in the belief that everyone has something meaningful to contribute. Our days are shaped by shared work, shared meals, and shared responsibility, creating a therapeutic environment grounded in empowerment, interdependence, and mutual respect. Today, around eighty people call Innisfree home. About forty are adults with intellectual disabilities, and the rest are residential volunteers and long-term staff who live and work alongside them. About ten additional coworkers join the rhythm of the village through our day program.
A Heart of Meaningful Service
Residential volunteers are a vital part of life-sharing at Innisfree. Volunteers live alongside coworkers in the village homes, fully participating in the daily rhythms of household and community life. They provide personal care, guidance, and emotional support, while also sharing meals, celebrations, and quiet moments together. This immersive life-sharing approach allows volunteers to experience the depth of community life—the joys, challenges, and meaningful connections that come from living, working, and growing alongside others. With a two-to-one ratio of coworkers to volunteer caregivers, life at Innisfree feels personal, connected, and truly shared.
Meaningful Work, Shared Purpose
Each day, volunteers and coworkers participate together in our therapeutic workstations–the bakery, community kitchen, farm, herb and vegetable gardens, weavery, woodshop, and art studio. These shared tasks give shape and meaning to the day. Coworkers build skills, confidence, and creative expression, while volunteers offer guidance and often discover new practical and creative abilities of their own.
The Rhythm of Community
Community life extends beyond the workday, too. Shared meals, house meetings, celebrations, and seasonal gatherings weave the village together. Many daily decisions are made by consensus, reflecting our commitment to shared responsibility, while broader organizational decisions rest with our leadership and board. Innisfree is a registered nonprofit, guided by an executive director and assistant directors, and dedicated to supporting a life rooted in respect, empowerment, and creativity for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Muir Commons was the first cohousing community newly constructed in the United States and was modeled after communities in Denmark. After several years of planning, ground breaking took place on November 1990 with the residents moving in during the summer of 1991. Most of the homes were constructed as affordable housing.

We are a functional sustainable community with a large surplus of beyond organic food and pristine water. We cultivate a polyculture of over 500 different types of plants, plus raise regenerative cattle, sheep, chickems, fish, and shrimp. We built the community years before the aqueduct was brought to our area. We have springs, rainwater collection, clean streams that start in our community, and many water storage cisterns (one is the first floor of our Modern Tree House, but you would never know unless you were told). On any given day we could provide food to feed over 50,000 people. Our design is to use as little labor as possible. Currently, the work crew is the owner and a local family of 3. Intentional design integration touches every part of our community. Homes are built beyond LEED standards. All homes have either a rainwater collection roof or a livingroof or a hybrid of both. The landscaping is edible, for utility, and full of medicinal plants. We grow the medicines for ourselves and our animals. Our Permaculture Country Club is unlike any other Country Club in the most important ways possible. Our course takes people though a food forest. It uses no purchased water or toxic chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides. The course has examples of regenerative agriculture, sustainability, and permaculture at every hole. It hosts the National Disc Golf Championship of Costa Rica every July. We are a community that produces more than we consume.

We have 13 memberships in a non-profit mutual benefit corporation. The land is 120 acres which is paid in full. The community is like a neighborhood of camps in the oak woods.
New clearings for new members are being created. One camp comes with a trailer. Most new members prefer to start from scratch and create their own dream. Infrastructure maintenance has never been better. We recently had a community project successfully rolling a new water tank up the hill and placed next to the existing one. Access road and water system improvements are ongoing. Hiking/ mountain biking trails are being made or re-cleared. Phone conference meetings have been more productive. Focus has been on membership transfer.
The property was inhabited by the Kumeyaay people probably until the treaty of 1852. A homestead was granted in 1908. Heart Land Concepts, Inc. bought the property from the homesteader’s nephew in 1979.
It’s a canyon with an old live oak forest and artesian spring. In the live oak woods are some granite rock outcroppings where a seasonal creek flows down through small pools. Morteros for pounding acorns and grinding acorn flower historically used by indigenous people are found here in the granite rock. Native plants are: miner’s lettuce, watercress, prickly pear cactus, acorns and more. Red rocks in the shape of a heart are embedded in a bluff that juts out from the upper area of the land. A network of trails and a fire road connect camps and lead to scenic areas.
At my camp, I’ve had many years to make my dream come true. I’m growing food in two hoop houses with wire mesh to keep the animals out. They sit atop two hugelkultur beds which harvest rainwater draining off the fire road. I’ve had some success at growing a variety of vegetables, berries and stone fruits.
The room is free and furnished. You’d serve as a Community Catalyst. Private bedroom (shared bathroom with one other person). Free access to a hot tub, sauna, pool, and a large common room with tables. You help activate and grow community (e.g., organizing and promoting events like yoga classes, meditation groups, and community talks) by putting fliers on cars/doors and verbally encouraging residents to attend and participate. You’ll also use Meetup and hand out fliers around Santa Barbara to reach beyond the community. You should be happy and willing to devote a few hours each day to outreach, coordination, and relationship-building to support the above. Also includes light cleaning of the shared bathroom and kitchen. I was a therapist in Colorado and recently moved to SB. While this initiative was requested, the community isn’t paying for it so I’d be covering your portion of the rent. Thus, part of your role will involve generating leads and scheduling clients for my counseling practice (outreach, networking, and invitation). The search is for someone personable, organized, and proactive. You should feel comfortable talking to people and encouraging participation. Ideal candidates are interested in wellness, community-building, psychology, and spirituality. March serves as a trial month. If things go well, there’s potential to expand the role and include profit-sharing in my professional practice. If you enjoy bringing people together and turning “unused potential” into living community, this could be a great fit. March is a trial period to see if our energies align. **You get:** If you are a facilitator of connection who enjoys the business side of wellness as much as the spiritual side, reach out with a bit about your experience. No pets in March, but if extended, a dog may be possible. **Note:** Thanks!

Not all intentional communities are residential! Think of Care Circles as communities without the complexities of running and maintaining residential communities (e.g. co-housing), but with the benefits of a sense of belonging and mutual support. As part of this “care circle,” we will get to know each other, our interests, and preferences . . . and . . . do things like provide transportation to others for medical appointments, help with ensuring our members get groceries, aide with technologies of various types, serve as patient advocates, help arrange for nursing in-home services and hospice, provide respite companion care, share information and resources, and/or other things that support our members. If there are enough participants, and the need, we may be able to arrange special pricing with nursing agencies, and/or share hours (that is, if the agency requires a 4 hour minimum and two community members live nearby, those hours could be split If we can get this working well, it could be a model for others – an alternative to assisted living and nursing homes – for those with similar healthy lifestyles and a service orientation. Right now, I envision “pods” of 5-10 people. But this whole model is a work in progress, so it will evolve over time as warranted. ** IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MY VISION, PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL WITH AT LEAST THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION. ** ** THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST! ** P.S. The Care Circle model in England Recently I learned about the CIRCLE model in England – a model that has been around for over a decade. Wow. The impetus is the same, but their vision is a bit different: much larger and less selective of participants. Success has been mixed. I still think “pods” (small circles) are likely more viable, though replenishing them could be challenging; perhaps a network of pods could address shifts as participants move away or disengage (in whatever form that takes). WRCW is committed to faith, hospitality to the homeless, education for social justice, peacemaking/nonviolence, sustainability, and gift economy. Started in 2009 in the Chicagoland area, the WRCW moved to Northeast Missouri in spring of 2014. We are dedicated to integral nonviolence (meaning to self, others, earth, institutions, etc.) including caring for those in need, striving towards electricity & petroleum free living, gift economy, communal living, simplicity, etc. We are part of Bear Creek Community Land Trust, which is a 154 acre off-the-grid community with our immediate neighbors (17 adults and 14 children). At White Rose, we have three residential buildings on the land: a medium-size home, a small 4 season one-room cabin, and a small 3 season cabin. Planning to build more natural buildings to expand our housing options. We also have a barn, horse-powered laundry house, and a large swimming pond. Life on the farm includes home-cooked meals, composting toilets, hosting those in need, growing vegetables, planting trees, continuing permaculture design, chopping wood, hosting college groups, and much more! Off the farm, we are involved in a variety of social justice causes. There are plenty of additional opportunities on the 154 acres like classes on permaculture, wild edibles, primitive skills, nonviolent communication, canning/preserving vegetables, natural building, etc. Plenty of self entertainment is available on the 154 acres … birthday parties, sports playing, craft nights, swimming, etc. Between White Rose and Bear Creek, we host over 300 visitors a year … so there are plenty of opportunities to meet people from all over the country and the world doing fascinating things. The nearest town is La Plata, which is 6 miles away and has a public library and an Amtrak station! So it is easy to get to by mass transportation. We have extra bikes available for use. Kirksville is 14 miles away and is a small college town. The Catholic Worker movement is composed of over 200 communities worldwide of many different faiths (not just Catholic) that are committed to nonviolence, voluntary poverty, prayer, hospitality for the homeless, exiled, hungry, and forsaken, and protest of injustice and violence of all forms. To learn more about the movement, the best book is probably “Loaves & Fishes” by Dorothy Day (co-founder). Other skills – Our neighbors are often working on a variety of interesting projects like straw bale house building, hand tool repair, canning, spoon carving, fermenting foods, horse care, etc. There could be opportunities to volunteer with some of these projects on occasion.

Sunburst is a community whose ideology revolves around agriculture, education for all ages, combining alternative-technology education with holistic living. Our goal is to provide our essential needs for food, shelter, energy, healing, companionship and self-actualization by sustainable growing practices, regenerative farming techniques, harvesting renewable energy for heat, electricity and mechanical work, our goal is to be completely off grid, utilizing solar and other best practices. On occasion, shared meals, dances, optional spirit practices as well as regular meetings and shared work on the grounds. We intend to generate value for ourselves, for each other and for our neighbors, caring for animals, wild and domestic, potential animal sanctuary, selling extra food and plant medicine, education, forest products, alternative energy technology, natural healing and other business ventures. Sunburst consists of 84 acres, 50 are in farmable conservation. We currently have 2 hoop houses 30 x 72′, a 40′ geodesic dome, a converted schoolie, and two 40′ shipping containers. Intentions for our land will hold a teaching center, alternative housing such as tiny homes, yurts, tipis, schoolie, Earthship, tree houses, with emphasis on small, energy efficient, simple buildings, using recycled and local materials, when possible, with centralized community space for dinners, music, dancing, lectures and movies. An ideal intention, would include natural healing, accomplished through the innate healing abilities of our bodies, assisted by practitioners of chiropractic, massage, meridian therapy, herbalism, reiki, counseling and yoga. For our purification, our community will have facilities for bathing, swimming, hot water soaks, sauna, and sweat lodges. Food production will be from foraging, gardening, greenhouse hydroponics, aeroponics, aquaculture, farming, permaculture and agroforestry. We would like our community to be an exemplary model of responsible living on planet earth, teaching others our culture, on site and on www. Visitors are encouraged to come and learn, for a few hours, a few days or a few weeks, with several options for exchange of value. Some of the interests and skills of current community members are solar and wind power, compost heating, filtered rainwater, natural-style parenting, greenhouse farming, homeschooling, music, and worker-owned cooperative businesses. The community plans to be self-supporting, providing jobs through intense aquaculture, hydroponics, beekeeping, internet business, recumbent-bicycle making, soap making and perfumes. Sunburst is a home for those who share high ideals and who know that tomorrow is built today. We are presently in the formative stages. We want our members to reside in “tiny homes”, members can bring their own or reside in ours. As of yet we have no hookups for an RV, we have no electric, no sewer, no water. We welcome people who have “tiny homes and/or small homes on trailers” to join us at our community now. We are in the process of purchasing a community building where we will have meetings and group dinners. The community house will include an aquaculture system utilizing fish and vegetables. Also, we plan to install an underground thermal storage tank for our compost heating system combined with our solar hot water and rocket stove’s. We are building the relationships and the organizational foundations of a community. Like-minded persons who are ready to develop and explore themselves in a setting of openness and trust are invited to inquire about Sunburst, either as prospective members or as investors in a socially responsible alternative environment

H.E.A.L. (Heal Earth And Life) We are located with in a 26,000 acre guard gate community, with 12 lakes and hundreds of miles of hiking trails. This property is located above one of the largest crystal vortex on the planet. It is our hope to give an environmental example in our community of how man can live as one with nature, using all of our renewable energy sources, feed ourselves good healthy organic food, experiment with best eco friendly building practices while teaching others to do the same. Do you have some ideas for making our project better? There´s plenty of room, and we welcome you to be a part of this working/teaching environmental classroom. H.E.A.L. has a simple belief. This planet is our home! There is a definite connection between its health and ours. We as a generation are moving to new heights with our ability to rejuvenate, renovate, and resupply our bodies and minds with so much that is good for us. Let’s do the same for the place we live, our home, our community, this planet. There is power in the masses and their movement. These days that movement is towards hope. Look around you and you will see it everywhere. We at H.E.A.L. would like to identify the problems, present the solutions and put them in the hands of the people who can make a difference, YOU! Then we plan on using what we do here as a teaching classroom. We want to support them and pay them to do what they do best, provide solutions! If you are interested in this adventure please contact us and hey, thanks for being HERE! Ziggy, C.E.O.(Concerned Environmental Officer)

Rolling fields, multiple established orchards, berry patches and gardens are interspersed with private corners for residences and groves of trees.
There are currently 8-10 adults and a teenager living on our part of the land (The other land partner has multiple tenants on her side and is not part of this project per se).
We also accommodate work traders throughout the growing season and have a large dome as a communal structure for workshops, events, ceremonies etc.
There is no religious affiliation of the project.

Healing & Thriving Center** **OUR VISION:** A return to live in harmony with all life through a cultivation of our relationship to our self, our body, our mind, each other and nature. Our offerings, always growing and refining, currently encompass principles of ancestral wisdoms as well as modern and innovative practices such as: ~ Lakota ~ Toltec ~ Rinzai Zen Buddhism ~ Aikido (philosophy) ~ Inipi Ceremony (sweat lodge) ~ Talking Circle ~ Open & non-aggressive communication – conflict resolution ~ Transpersonal Psychology ~ Yoga ~ Nervous system healing method ~ Restorative body/mind/spirit approach ~ Herbalism ~ Nutrition In addition, we are working towards integrating regenerative permaculture, sacred geometry and natural building as well as other complementary pathways such as rite of passage, natural homeschooling, vision quest ceremony and more. **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **AS A COMMUNITY:** We honor Nature by living with the seasonal rhythms, giving care and consideration to all of our actions and what we consume. We mostly eat organic whole foods and love finding local sources. We strive to only eat animal products that have been humanly raised/processed and greatly appreciate well water. We seek to support and nurture the resiliency of our immune system through the use of herbs and other natural/holistic methods. We use solar energy and wood fires, collect rain water and use composting practices. We strive to foster open communication that nurtures both receptive and decisive action in problem solving. We commit to relentlessly engage in internal and external awareness- mindfully conducting ourselves with respect in community spaces. This means helping each other in holding ourselves accountable – progressing towards discerning any dysfunctional ways or patterns and proceeding to self-correction. At the foundation, we have a clear intent to do our own shadow work and aspire for excellence with all our endeavors while navigating daily life. Shadow work is largely under valued and often misunderstood but is in fact fundamental to a healthy collective path. For us, it is a way of life. Our intention is to create a collaborative community that learns, shares, and practices the following: ~ Cultivating one’s spiritual connection. ~ Detoxing false beliefs & negative habits (shadow work) ~ Recovering and nurturing a healthy body and mind. ~ Grasping self-governance as the underpinning of any healthy system. ~ Systems of collaboration and reciprocity, such as holacracy and honoring the 8 forms of capital. ~ Worldviews that go beyond the propaganda of global financial systems. ~ Achieving success for one’s life goals. **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **CURRENTLY SEEKING MEMBERS:** As we continue to co-create this healing center, we are in search of dynamic, motivated, energetically balanced individuals to join us full or part time. One must have the ability to be both independent and collaborative. Within a full time commitment, we welcome potential core members who embody two fundamental traits: ~ A diligent commitment to their own healing and shadow work • This way of life requires great commitment and daily practice, but is invaluably rewarding. ~ A diligent commitment to being at the service of all life and support of young generations • We understand that harmonizing with Creation involves serving where we are most needed through offering our unique gifts. **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **~** **PRESENTLY** pursuing a property in the mountains SE of Albuquerque NM. ORIGIN STORY: Suiko McCall (then known as Betsy) met Christopher Fülling at the Burning Man Festival in 2006. Christopher, an early-music vocalist and ritual theater director, had just come from working with his ensemble at a monastery in Germany. The ensemble had participated in the monks’ schedule, joining them for meals and rehearsing while the monks did their work. Christopher left his time at the monastery deeply inspired and replenished. Suiko and Christopher started wondering what would happen if a group of contemporary artists were to live in a beautiful historic monastic structure, applying the thousands of years of monastic principles of discipline, contemplation, and sustainable living to creativity and the art-making process. They never stopped asking that question and now we have the Art Monastery. HISTORY: Art Monastery Italia, a small residential community of “Artmonks”, hosted many visiting artists and guest Artmonks-in-Residence while living and working together in a centuries-old, former monastery. Together we created dozens of original works, symposia, exhibitions, and site-specific performances that animated historic spaces throughout Italy and interacted with the local communities. Our half-decade in Italy culminated with an EU grant to partner with six other intentional communities throughout Europe to share experiences and develop best practices, resulting in the publication of a book, Hosting Transformation. CURRENT: The Art Monastery is now informally located on the ancestral land of the Kanaka Maoli, Big Island, Hawaii. While we are still exploring the possibilities of in-person artist residencies, we do offer meditation & creativity retreats and classes online.

We are designing a 7.4 acre mixed housing and farm land in Winston Salem. Opportunities in 2026 include a Land Steward program, community events, designing the financial/legal structure collaborative meetings. Land subdivision and permitting is a work in progress, but the concept drawings and vision board are available to see here: https://www.olamina.homes/welcome-home We are looking for founders to become co-designers of the village, or even those working on their own vision who want to collaborate. Land and housing costs in the Triad area are reasonable (compared to other coastal regions) and local code allows for “missing middle” housing like cottage courts and accessory dwelling units.
