Audre Lorde Co-op is a 14-room household that provides a safe space for people of all ages committed to advocating a sustainable and socially just society. We are an actively pro-people-of-color, racial justice, pro-feminist, and pro-queer/LGBT-loving household. Our intent is to bring together individuals in an environment that fosters and is supportive of their activist endeavors, as well as creating a safe place for living. House decisions are made by group-modified consensus. We are located near Zoe Bayliss, Lothlorien, Ambrosia, Nottingham, and Rivendell Co-ops.

House members contribute roughly 5-6 hours of their time each week for work jobs such as cooking, washing dishes, cleaning various common spaces, paying bills, grocery shopping, serving as a house representative for the board and various committees of Madison Community Cooperative, and many other jobs that go toward the upkeep and continuance of the household.

Everyone in the house pays $100 a month to purchase bulk food.

We have house meetings every Thursday night that can last anywhere from forty-five minutes to three hours. These meetings are a chance for us to communicate with one another as a group about any issues, problems, plans, or changes, in a forum that insures everyone an equal chance to be heard.

We are a THOW (tiny house on wheels) community in coastal North Carolina. We are creating a community where you park your THOW in order to live with integrity as neighbor and friend while practicing social and ecological responsibility. We purchased 14 acres of land in 2021 and worked with the county, an engineering office, and a landscape architect specializing in sustainability to develop it. We are open and actively taking reservations. Everyone is invited to explore if this is a place for them to live (with weekly, monthly, and yearly options). We are especially reaching out to neurodiverse or neurodivergent individuals and couples who are looking for a place to belong. We have 19 sites for THOWs – reach out if you have a different kind of home on wheels – with a large community garden, a greenhouse, chickens and other critters, all of which is taken care of by all of us. Ideas for the future include a co-working space for digital nomads, a mushroom barn (the kind you buy at the grocery store), and a workshop. If you bring special skills and interest, the hope is to make room for them. Everyone contributes as they are able. The property is about 15 minutes from the beach and about 10 minutes from shopping and medical facilities. The homes are parked surrounded by trees with some privacy. Follow us on Facebook or sign up on the website for newsletters. Email us to request a reservation agreement, rental information, and other paperwork

Come check out AnimAJourney where the World of Tomorrow Starts Today! AnimAJourney is located in a rural small subdivision. We are part of a neighborhood of some like-minded neighbors who are living a similar lifestyle and similar values. AnimAJourney is currently two adults who have been living a life of voluntary simplicity in many ways: P.V. solar, composting, organic/veganic gardening and orcharding, building with concrete [building for 200 to 400 years – or more, fireproof, sounds are moderated, termite-proof], mostly live (raw) vegan foods, ‘green’ and ‘sustainable’ [we know those terms are sometimes difficult to define, and people have differing perspectives on them] and integrated living. One of our neighbors is EarthReleaf, another ‘sustainable’ property. Most of our neighbors, for example, get their electricity with P.V. solar, and live fairly quiet lives. Some have been activists [such as keeping electrical poles from being installed]. We have regular fun activities, and plan to incorporate more. We’d like to have people stay with us in our groovy & beautiful cabins [or camping] who are interested in friendship, short-term or long-term stays, internships, and becoming friends of AnimAJourney. Our goal is to have a vegan team corporation where the members have shares. We plan to have a vegan lab, for example. We see ourselves as a grain of sand in the beach of the evolutionary transformation in the world. Come learn from us and share your knowledge. We love live foods because they love us back. We strive for harmonious living using Miguel Ruiz’s “Four Agreements” and “The Five Agreements,” among other things, so if you haven’t read Ruiz’s books, we recommend them. We want to draw people here who are of like mind, of course. We especially are interested in connecting/hanging out with those who are fascinated in exploring the psychosocial frontier. Maybe take a vow of levity? 🙂 The World of Tomorrow is Today at AnimAJourney!

Pan’s Harvest

Contact Name: Thomas Ercildoun

We are a small land-based community centered on building material, social, and spiritual resilience through interdependent enrichment, generosity, and service. The principle of resilience through interdependence is applied in four key domains:

Up-building the land and ecology while supplying an increasing amount of our food needs through restorative agriculture practices. Working the land is a key focus of our community life. Our approach seeks not to maximize short-term output but to build a dynamic, managed ecology which over time enriches the soil and waterways, and provides food resilience to annual variations through a diversity of species, which themselves have mutually supportive ecological relationships. Animal husbandry is an integral part of our agricultural practice.

Dynamic, egalitarian decision-making with earned leadership. Fundamentally we want all members’ needs and voices to be honored and integrated into decisions about the community’s direction. At the same time, we value the expertise that certain individuals may have within certain domains. We seek to balance the efficiency of leadership with the empowerment and participation of each individual, calling on all members to speak and act from their most wise and community-minded perspective when involved in matters of governance. Likewise leaders are expected to maintain an attitude of humility and a focus on the benefit of the community as a whole.

Social cohesion and integration without suppressing individual’s autonomy and needs. We aspire to group cohesion through shared activities such as meals, ritual, song, and supported heart sharing. We aim to be a tight-knit group of people who care deeply about each other’s welfare and the success of the group as a whole. At the same time, we want each person to be free to bring forth the full range of their individuality and gifts. We value the diversity of perspectives that comes from letting each person be themselves, and do not seek cohesion through conformity.

Spiritually, we aim to remain grounded in the sacredness of all reality and its manifold beings, experiences, and phenomena, to practice opening our hearts and minds to the autonomous needs of the many perspectives around us, deepening our intimacy with the realities of life and death, and cultivating our inner listening so that we may continually develop our ability to be medicine for each other and the world.

Our community style is pragmatic, supportive, low-key, and family friendly. We are interested in connecting with anyone interested in this project. Special consideration will be given to those with:
*relevant skill bases (esp. building and animal husbandry)
*an open, collaborative teamwork approach
*interest in establishing a long-term home in community
*eager to apply themselves consistently to restoring and developing the land

Julian Woods (established 1975) is a diverse group of 17 adult members, one child, and several residents/potential members on ~250 acres.  Some of the land is cleared, but most of it is forest and small stream. Our common land is held by School of Living Community Land Trust, and there are 63 acres of adjacent land also in the trust. We are located 15 miles from the Pennsylvania State University, in State College PA. Members may own a home lot that includes a capital investment in the common land and infrastructure.  Families and Members are autonomous, financially independent, and own their own homes on small private lots within our common land.  Community decisions regarding the common land and infrastructure are made by modified consensus of a 5 member Board that rotates among willing members, yearly .

We own and operate a “living machine” in two greenhouses that constitute our wastewater-treatment system with almost year-round growing space. We have two deep-wells of clean potable water.  We also have many small organic outdoor gardens. We are artists, teachers, carpenters and builders, business people, a forester, and various professions. Many of us are retired or close to it. Meido maintains a Zendo for meditation, yoga, Tai Chi, and other related activities. Rick created a large artists’ studio. Deb uses the greenhouse for growing flowers for market. A committee of members maintains our gravel road, water and wastewater systems. Collectively we enjoy a swimming pond, a forest stream, forest walking trails, and occasional meals and gatherings.

We have an urgent interest in finding others to continue to build and sustain our community – especially young families and people with some experience in any of the mechanical trades. We believe that there will be 1 or 2 homes available for sale in the next year. There is also a 2 bedroom apartment that becomes available from time t0 time.  We are actively establishing a list of people with interest in becoming members here. Please email us for more information or to begin the conversation.

Forest Glen at Highland Lake’s vision is to create an intentional neighborhood that demonstrates a strong ethic of environmental sustainability and stewardship, following building and living practices that support rather than destroy Nature’s ecological systems. Feeling part of a supportive community is of utmost importance to our mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. In order to foster meaningful relationships and a sense of belonging and connectedness, we strive to be open-minded and mutually respectful, employ communication and decision-making practices that are inclusive and appreciative of each individual’s unique contribution to the whole, and participate in collaborative work projects, play, and celebrations.

Chuckleberry is a team of people involved in organic and regenerative farming as a means to expand consciousness. We are dedicated to living a life of Practice and Presence to serve our evolution and discover our True Nature. Our gifts, our pains, our radiance, and our shadows we bring to light in each other to discover and embody as they authentically are within us.
Laughter and song echo in the evenings, intertwined with the rushing waters of Falls Creek pouring through the deep gully on the western side of the pristine 23 acres of forest that is home to Chuckleberry Community Farm. Every day, the Selkirk mountains of the West Kootenays offer a breathtaking, ever-changing Awesome View. You will find us taking in the view from the earthship rooftop deck, waking from a night under the stars. You will find us doing morning practices in the orchard, or crawling around the berry terraces to get today’s pick. Most of the time, you will find us buzzing around like bees in a beehive, creating and collaborating to steward this land and feed the surrounding communities.
Even though Chuckleberry grows a wide range of nutrient-dense organic vegetables and microgreens, the community farm is designed for individual self-discovery and the unfolding of human potential. People that come through Chuckleberry have been called to participate in this dynamic and transformational environment in order to awaken to their true nature.
The Chuckleberry lifestyle is set up to catalyze transformation. We provide a highly relational culture of clarity, authenticity and self-expression, based in a substance-free environment that supports spiritual practice and active self-expansion. This place is home to a culture of edgeworkers experimenting with a completely different way of being, relating to each other and relating to reality.

Johnny and Jaymie moved to the Big Island in 2014. We visited several communities looking for a place to call home.
After some time searching, we chose to start our own . We bought the land across the road from where we were renting for two years in the district of Puna.
We started clearing the second growth weed trees at first by hand with machetes , backpacking soil and banana plants over uneven lava and crawling through brush, later with a chainsaw and a cart, and finally after a year of working ourselves to the bone, we used a bulldozer to open up the land for farming and living.
We have 24 acres. At this time(2026)about 15 acres are developed for agriculture or other human uses. The remaining acres are in native Ohia forest or a mixed forest, including polynesian introduced Kukui trees.
We have planted over 500 tropical fruit trees. As of 2026, many of them are 10 years old and bearing fruit. We continue to plant more.
We have 50 chickens in a large chicken yard and about 60 free-ranging muscovy ducks, and 3 farm cats.
As of 2026, we have one family of 3, another family of 3, and 3 single people living at Anuenue farm.
We are looking for another family to live here. We are also interested in singles visiting and potentially Living here full time.
We have a guest open air house available for rent and work trade.  (After a trial period, they may be able to move to a different part of the land.).  We also have multiple camping/ glamping options.
Applicants must be motivated to share in the hard farm labor as part of living here.

If you do not like getting dirty and doing hard physical labor to grow abundant food and create a beautiful living situation for all of us, please do not contact us.
We are also open to short time volunteers to camp here, work-trade 8 hours per week, and enjoy life on the Big island.

Creative people are welcome. We like building things and growing things.

Our ages range from 37 to 73. That’s probably enough about us.

Projects that might interest potential new people:

Setting up rain catchment systems on all the rooves

Building a business selling soap making kits including powdered goat’s milk (we got the freeze dryer and have enough solar panels to run it)

Repairing and remodeling campers

We still need to set up a community kitchen/hang out space

Setting up small-scale solar power systems

Gardening (no one is doing this right now, but you can, just make sure you protect it from the goats)

Caring for and milking goats, collecting eggs, etc.

Preparing food made from all the milk and eggs our animals produce

If you want to visit, please know that temperatures can range from 110+ to 30 below. We’re at 1800 feet elevation, and changes are sometimes swift! It’s beautiful though.

We welcome humans of all ages from all ethnic backgrounds, gender expressions, and sexual orientations.

We raise livestock, and we do sometimes cull and eat animals that we raise. Slaughter is done with respect and care, and only as the need arises. We do not raise any animals for this sole purpose. Visitors are welcome to observe and participate if they approach the process with sobriety, respect, and the willingness to be involved in all aspects of caring for the animals during their lives as well as the processing, food production, and cleanup after they are slaughtered.

STATUS AND PLAN

We are a forming community of couples and singles currently sharing an off-grid house on ~100 acres of land.  We are preparing to host visitors for community healing grief rituals.  We are also beginning to work with the land to provide for more of our needs (food, heat, energy).  Over the next two years or so, we’re inviting people with a shared vision to join us in building this project with the goal of forming our group of founding members. We are gathering people with a shared vision and all contributing to the start-up costs.  We are within 30 miles of a town of ~5,000 (with smaller towns within ~10 miles) to enable folks to have outside jobs if they wish. We have internet fast enough for remote work (video calls, etc.).

Once we have established the core group, we will collectively decide on our legal, membership, and community structures.  Over the next ~5 years, we want to transition property ownership to a community owned legal entity (such as a land trust, LLC, etc.) in which all members share equity, or another structure that reflects and supports our social and economic values.

VISION

We are creating a community that is rooted in values of balance, harmony, and support of both the individual in their uniqueness and the collective as a being we value and nurture.  We recognize that our culture has moved so painfully and dangerously far away from an ethic of reciprocal and consensual relationship: within ourselves, between each other, with the land, with the more than human world, and so on.  We are building a foundation from which we can re-thread the knowing of our interconnection, so that we can carry out all our endeavors from that knowledge.

Grief ritual, and other community rituals, are practices we are incorporating to build this foundation.

Some teachers whose work are informing our budding practices: Francis Weller, Malidoma Somé of the Dagara Tribe, Thich Nhat Hahn, Pema Chodron.

EXPANDING FROM HOUSE TO VILLAGE

Part of our commitment is to lower financial barriers to joining, and keeping in the spirit of our other values, is co-creating low-cost living solutions. For the sites we are considering for this project, zoning already permits several additional dwelling types, such as detached accessory dwelling units (ADU), farm worker dormitories, etc. Accessory structures could offer a way to move common spaces (office, kitchen, dining room, etc.) out of the existing house to increase its dwelling capacity through minor renovation. Depending on how the community wants to build more dwellings over time, a variety of minor- and major-use permits are also available. We are also excited to create low-cost alternative/natural/off-grid/low-tech/experimental structures, as long as they are harmonious with the community, environment, and natural life. There are several flat pads for siting dwellings, and we’re open to you bringing you own (such as tiny house or similar) or happy to work with you if you want to come build one.

CO-CREATING WITH OTHERS

This living document aims to offer a framework for our vision, rather than any rigid structures or procedures. Throughout our development we have drawn inspiration from a range of community models within the broader communities movement, such as Breitenbush Hotsprings, Twin Oaks Community, Earthhaven Ecovillage, Shimmerback Ranch, Occidental Arts & Ecology Center and others. We’ll add details here as they become available, but please do reach out for more info if you are inspired by the vision or want to share your wisdom 🙂

OUR CURRENT PRIORITIES

Our initial focus for building the community is finding folks who are interested in the possibility of becoming founding members, and who want to collaborate on our priorities of: (+) establishing a grief & community healing ritual business, (+) establishing a permaculture food garden–see garden details below,  and (+) odd jobs needed to renovate and improve the existing land and structures.

OUR VALUES

Connection over consumerism, Honesty, Ecology, Bartering, Right relation with nature, Relationality, Community and communal ownership, Equality, Sustainability, Practicality, Balance, Sovereignty, Dignity, Honoring individuality and creativity, Reverence and peace, Celebrating each other, Healing and transformation, Fun :), Learning and teaching, Love <3, Imagination, Trust and trustworthiness, Repair and reconciliation, Participation in local and global culture building, Purpose and satisfaction, Rest and restoration, Emotional freedom and freedom of expression, Sharing and togetherness, Science, Building, Creativity, Magic, Helping each other build tolerance for discomfort, Gender equity, Body positivity, Consent, Sexual sovereignty

OUR LIBRARY

Here are some sources of inspiration & wisdom for us:

Grief, Community Healing, Ritual: Malidoma Some (The Healing Wisdom of Africa), Francis Weller (The Wild Edge of Sorrow)

Other: Robin Wall Kimmerer (Braiding Sweetgrass), Thich Nhat Hanh (True Love), Betty Martin (The Wheel of Consent), Wendell Berry, Jessica Fern (Polysecure), Hafiz, Everyday Utopia (Kristen Ghodsee)

OUR GARDEN:

The land has 0.5-1 acre of fenced garden including raised beds, hoop houses, ~150 sqft greenhouse, ~900 sqft indoor/outdoor workshop. Water is a mix of spring and well, multiple year-round ponds, and the garden has 6000 gal of tank storage. There are a few assorted young/mature fruit trees.

Before permanent membership in the community, we will invite aligned folks for a 6-month incubation period to ensure we’re a good fit for each other. We are all new; our earliest members moved here in February 2026. We draw inspiration from https://www.earthaven.org/rentals/.  We have some limited capacity to offer a work-trade situation in the right circumstance.  We are working toward expanding our capacity to provide work-trade positions as we generate income from our activities.

Our home is a bustling, bumpin’ one, chock full of good music, food, and stories. We divide house costs on what we call a socialized scheme, where members negotiate what portion of house costs they can accommodate given their circumstances. We challenge one another, though mostly through invitation. We share food, and more importantly, meals with one another and with communities beyond our walls.

Hello everyone!
I’m putting a call out to people who are craving the farm life of old — a true community where like-minded folks with the same goals for their families come together on one piece of land. Everyone doing their part, sharing the chores, the profits, the hard days and the good ones, the work and the play.
The world is changing fast, and a lot of us feel that pull to get away from all the craziness. The things you see online are confusing and scary. Even the mainstream news feels fake. Prices keep climbing so high that most of us are just working to eat and pay bills. There’s no such thing as saving anymore. One flat tire, one doctor visit, one broken window, and you’re forced to work extra just to cover it. The food in the stores seems designed to make us sick, and the healthcare system feels like it’s only there to keep you hanging on long enough to take every dollar they can.
Families are broken. People are broken. The whole system feels broken. We’ve traded real living for convenience, and that convenience is costing us more and more of our time. If you’re a God-loving, Bible-believing, Jesus-following person like me, you already see the signs in Revelation. It’s time to act, not wait. The Bible tells us in the end times to run to the mountains. We don’t have mountains here in North Florida, so we went to the country — very few neighbors, way off the beaten path.
This homestead is for people who want a deeper walk with God and a simple, rewarding life helping each other. If you’re yearning to get back to working the land, planting seeds, raising animals for food and trade, now is the time.
I’ve been watching posts in the boondocking groups, homesteading groups, and off-grid living groups, and I keep seeing the same pattern. So many people say they want this life, but very few seem ready to actually build it. It feels like most folks just want to show up once everything’s already done — the hard work finished, the money spent, the fences up, the pens built. They want to do a few chores and then have the rest of their time free. And don’t get me wrong, that’s the goal down the road, but right now we need builders, not just users.
Where are the pioneers? Where are the people willing to start from the ground up? Where are the ones ready to sacrifice a little comfort in the beginning so we can all reap the rewards later? That’s who we’re looking for — people who understand that nothing changes if you don’t change it. People with dedication and real commitment.
I hear the excuses every day: “If I only had the money… if I had more time… if I had my own land… if I had the right resources… if I could just find people I get along with…” Or “I’d put in the work if it was already established… if I had a camper… if it wasn’t for my kids’ school…” The list goes on and on.
Back in the old days, people bought barren land, dug wells by hand, cut trees to build their homes and fences, and made it work with what they had. That’s the spirit we need. My vision is to focus on the people who don’t fit in anywhere else — older folks who’ve been abandoned by family and society, and homeless veterans. No veteran in this country should be living on the street after what they’ve sacrificed.
We have five acres ready for people and small animals, plus access to the adjoining ten acres for larger livestock and crops. This is not a finished place with electricity and flushing toilets yet. This is raw land — an investment of time, sweat, and faith. The reward is waking up to the sunrise, growing your own food, raising your own animals, and building something that feeds your body, mind, and spirit.
If anything I’ve said here speaks to you, if you feel that calling, please reach out. Let’s start a real conversation and see where it goes. We’re looking for people with vision, a servant’s heart, and the willingness to work alongside others to create something that matters.

Interested in intentional intergenerational community living, living mindfully, simply and lightly on the earth? Regenerative agriculture & permaculture, rewilding, sustainability, traditional building, water protection and general earth care? Please contact us to learn more! Newly forming community near Albuquerque, New Mexico seeking additional founding members. The forming community has access to 5+ urban rental units in the city limits of Albuquerque which relocating members may rent while we identify and acquire a larger community site. We also have access to food growing space available on another 1/2 acre in Bosque Farms, about 30 minutes South of Albuquerque. We’ve begun meeting regularly to share meals, build community, and plan. If you are in Albuquerque and interested in learning more, please join us for a 2nd Saturday potluck, 5pm at The Albuquerque Friends Meetinghouse – 1600 5th St., NW (PO Box 25462) , Albuquerque, NM 87125-5462 We will also be hosting a more focused planning session on 4th Saturday’s at 10am at this location. (Please email before attending as we may change times or locations on short notice as needed)

In March our core group began looking at property together and are in early discussions about initial financial buy in and ownership structure. We hope to identify a property and begin the process of forming the physical community in the next 12-36 months.

We are seeking to collectively purchase ~5-50 acres of land near Albuquerque where community members can live intentionally together in a variety of housing types, with natural ecological preservation and agricultural potential while still easily accessible to the Albuquerque metro area. The most likely area for this type of community is currently the South Valley of Bernalillo County, which is a traditional agricultural community located along the bosque of the Rio Grande river. Ideally the land will have well or ditch irrigation to help preserve communal  water  resources, agrarian land access and respectable affordable housing options.

This effort began with 2 community minded Quakers in Albuquerque seeking a way to live intergenerationally, sustainably, and intentionally together. Quaker/Spiritual affiliation is not required, though principles and values like Community, Simplicity, Peace, Equality, Integrity, Stewardship, Empathy, Mindfulness, and Ecological Integrity, to Right Action, Growth, Endurance. etc. are appreciated. (https://quakerspeak.com/video/9-core-quaker-beliefs/ & https://quakerearthcare.org/emerge/ )  Click here to learn more about Quakers concern for Earth Care and Climate Action: https://quakerearthcare.org/

Our current participant group includes individuals without religious affiliation, and those from the Quaker, Mennonite, Unitarian Universalist, ,and those with a background in the Presbyterian. Southern Baptist, Catholic, and Mormon backgrounds. We are interested in a diversity of experiences which may enhance community as we strive to live out lives which reflect our common values.

(English below.)

——

Our dream is to create an egalitarian intentional community of 100–150 people in Peru, inspired by Twin Oaks in the USA and Tamera in Portugal.

We’ll work to minimise inequalities between our members (e.g., based on economy, class, race, age, and gender) and create a space for personal and collective transformation, cultivating healthier, more intimate, and more honest relationships. We’ll start from our shared needs and potential as human beings, building a regenerative culture in which we can live more fully while protecting our environment.

El Pilote is our pilot project, a group house in the town of Calca, an hour north of Cusco in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We’ve been living here since April 2026 and we plan to stay for about a year before moving to somewhere bigger.

For more details you can see our blog at https://elpiloteperu.substack.com.

In 2021, I formed Infinite Abundance Ministries (IAM) to empower people to reach new heights of success and fulfilment.

Our congregation is non-denominational and welcomes people from all walks of life.

I incorporate teachings from the Bible, Vedas, and other religious texts into our doctrine.
My words encourage members to find the path that truly resonates with their souls.
For many years, God has granted me prophetic visions of a major societal shift.
I call it, “The Final Days of Babylon.”

This caused my focus to shift.

I have been called to bring my people to a place of safety and peace while the chaos unfolds around us.
I see myself as a “Citizen of Earth” who does not belong to any one specific place.
I personally travel from state to state, bringing individuals and communities together for this cause.

If you would like to learn more about this unique opportunity, I would be happy to share my insights with you.

We have a duty and responsibility to maintain the house, and pay dues to be able to afford to make repairs, pay our property taxes and nurture the space and our community. The Love Plan is currently re-evaluating its location, among other things.  If our lifestyle interests (described below) call to you, you’re welcome to email us to establish a connection.  Where ever we are, we are excited about living our values. 🙂

We are a pair of homesteaders, living within walking distance (about a 15 min. walk) of the downtown of Mount Dora, Florida.  We’ve been here since 2014, working to establish a more off-grid residence and self-sufficient food forest.  In 2020, we joyfully went car-free.  We make efforts to be generalists, involved in our own projects (i.e., those aspects of life that we welcome into our lives, such as home maintenance, gardening, building furniture, education, health care, and social and community connections).  So far, we’ve been maintaining our 675 sq. ft., 2-bedroom, 1938 home; and feeding our edible garden on the stuff that we have, here on the land (almost an acre).  We’ve grown over 60 different species of edible plants; mostly fruit trees (which we’ve felt deeply grateful for).  Mostly, we eat a low-fat, raw, vegan diet; having done so for about 10 years.  Occasionally, we’re excited to see animals in our yard (exx., birds, domestic cats, lizards, opossums, raccoons, rodents, and snakes).  We live with some 25, plus, ft. trees and intend to harmonize with our landscape; so we’ve seen that some of the animals make a home, here. 🙂  In addition to the garden, we’ve built about half of our furniture; which we made out of solid wood and rubbed with an edible, walnut oil.

We enjoy living with (more nearly) “just enough,” beauty, cleanliness, and tidiness.  We often find ourselves analyzing life matters, such as health, freedom, spirituality, and the workings of reality.  Our vision is of a volunteer society (one without capital).  We aim for our ideals in everything we think and do.  We love compassionate communication and working on developing egalitarian relating!  We aim for a life of love and harmony with everyone and everything! 🙂 🙂

Email Lori at info@winslowcohousing.org to set up a tour. We are organized as a stock cooperative with 30 dwelling units and a common house on nearly 6 acres with woods and gardens, within walking/biking distance of schools, shops, library, and medical offices. Gaia Grid is a small piece of land in the Western Ghats that has slowly been brought back to life. What was once dry, rocky ground with almost nothing is now a growing forest of fruit trees, native species, birds, insects, and everything that follows when land begins to heal.

I started the project around 9 years ago as an experiment. Since then, with the help of volunteers who have come and spent time here, it has gradually evolved. We’ve built a kitchen and common hangout space, a large dormitory (which also doubles as a yoga/meditation space), planted over 800 trees, and constructed a basic shower and toilet block. In many ways, it is still very simple and still evolving.

It is not a finished place. It is a process you step into.

The intention behind Gaia Grid is to explore simpler, more conscious ways of living that are less dependent on external systems and more connected to natural cycles. Water, food, shelter, and energy come from systems that are still being developed, with a majority of these resources coming from the land itself.

The community here is small, fluid, and constantly changing. There is no fixed group or formal structure. It is usually just me, along with a small number of people who choose to spend time here. While people may arrive as visitors, they become part of the space through shared responsibility for the work, the food, and the overall environment we create together.

Daily life is simple and participatory. Meals are cooked and eaten together, and responsibilities are shared as needed. Some days are quiet and slow. Others are more physical; hands in the soil, moving stone, planting, maintaining, or building. The rhythm is shaped more by the land and the season than by any fixed schedule.

Decisions are generally informal and situational. There is space for discussion, but also an understanding that the project itself has a direction shaped by its long-term intention. The structure is light, but participation and awareness are expected.

Beyond the physical aspect, Gaia Grid also holds space for reflection. The land is quiet, relatively remote, and surrounded by nature. Many people find that being here shifts their relationship with time, attention, and what they actually need. There is space for conversation, but also for silence.

My own journey has moved between very different worlds, and Gaia Grid reflects that ongoing exploration. It is not about offering a fixed path, but about creating conditions where people can observe, question, and experience something different. If someone is interested in inner work or self-inquiry, that can be explored informally through conversation and shared experience.

What we are attempting here is simple, though not always easy which is to regenerate a small piece of land, to live in a more aware way, and to explore what it means to share space and responsibility with others, even temporarily.

Gaia Grid is not a finished community or a defined model. It is an evolving experiment in living differently. Anyone who spends time here becomes part of that process, even if only for a short while.

Playful Catholic Forest Growers is a forming intentional community rooted in joy, stewardship of the land, and a living devotion to Yeshua in the Catholic tradition. We are gathering people who want to pray, work, dance, grow food, and play together while cultivating a forest‑centered, regenerative way of life.

Our vision is simple and bold: to build a small, vibrant community where faith, creativity, and ecological care are woven into daily rhythm. We honor Catholic sacramental life while embracing a spirit of play, embodied movement, and shared labor. We believe holiness can be expressed through tending soil, singing around a fire, learning from the forest, and supporting one another in becoming fully alive.

We imagine a place where:
Prayer and spiritual practice are woven into the week—Mass, Lectio Divina, contemplative silence, and simple liturgies.
Land stewardship is central—forest gardening, regenerative agriculture, native species cultivation, and hands‑on ecological restoration.
Embodied joy is welcomed—dance, music, movement, and play as expressions of gratitude and community bonding.
Shared work builds connection—gardening, building, cooking, and caring for the land together.
Hospitality is a core value—welcoming visitors, pilgrims, and friends who resonate with our way of life.
Formation and growth are ongoing—learning from Scripture, tradition, the land, and one another.

We are currently in the early forming stage and are seeking people who feel called to co‑create a small, grounded, spiritually rooted, and joy‑filled community in the forests of Western North Carolina. You don’t need to share our beliefs to apply, but you should feel comfortable living alongside people for whom faith is central. We welcome anyone drawn to a life of simplicity, service, and delight.

If you feel drawn to a life where prayer, play, and ecological stewardship meet, we’d love to connect.

Water Birch Co-op

We are seeking community around shared housing and meals in a large, urban house in downtown Denver. Open-minded, open-hearted, compassionate, self-aware. The house has 11 bedrooms.

The community is a self governing Co-op. The Co-op makes decisions cooperatively for how the house will function, so some things will change as we decide how to make the house work best for the diverse people living here. The starting intentions include:

• Communication with compassion.

• Shared space and life.

• Shared meals.

• Shared staple foods which are Organic.

• Group decision making.

• Safe, inclusive space: queer and trans friendly, anti-racist, non-violent, and feminist.

• The purchase of the house by the co-op in about five years.

• The expansion of the co-op, possibly to include other housing types (like separate apartments).

• Weekly meetings.

• We expect there will be a buy-in fee when the co-op becomes formal. We expect it might be between $500 and $1000 and will be refundable when moving out of the house.

• Quiet hours are from 10:00pm to 8:00am.

We are looking for community members who:

• Want to live in a community not just have a place to sleep and eat.

• Want to live in a beautiful, clean, and organized house and are willing to help make and keep it that way.

• Are curious, compassionate, flexible, and open to living with others who will undoubtedly have different ideas about many things.

• Are interested in pioneering a new co-op. There will be work involved to get there.

• Are responsible and communicative.

• Embrace enthusiastically that living in community requires introspection and personal growth.

• Are not joining as a way to run away from something.

The house belongs to one of the members. The intention is that the co-op will buy the house in about five years at which point the current owner hopes to buy another building nearby to enlarge the community. We would like to include others in our community in the form of dinners that include our neighbors and friends. We have a community potluck every other month and some neighbors garden with us.
