SUMMARY:Community Land Co-Ops: Owning our future in community [Workshop]
DESCRIPTION:September 14th | 3:30-5:30pm Eastern \nCommunity Land Co-Ops: Owning our Future in Community\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for this inspirational 2-hour workshop to explore Community Land Co-ops (CLCs) and ways to take part in a more cooperative and equitable future for community land.\n\n\nHousing justice is social justice\, but most of us feel powerless to escape the system\, much less change it. From ecovillages to apartment blocks\, cooperative communities are hard pressed to establish ownership of land and buildings without resorting to conventions of property and finance that run fundamentally at odds with core values like inclusion\, equity\, and cooperation. \n \nArising from an intersection of social activism and intentional communities organizing\, the Community Land Co-op (CLC) is a holistic framework for community control of land that emphasizes the human relationships between residents\, investment\, and property. \n \nAlthough this is often referred to as the “landlord owned by its tenants”\, it also includes a key membershp role for allied non-residential investors. \n \nThis workshop will introduce the complete CLC framework in broad strokes and provide examples of its implementation that are currently underway. We will also create an open space for a discussion of thevarious ins and outs and imagining our own potential futures as CLC members\, as well as a live Q&A. \n \n\nDuring this session you will gain:\n\nA broad understanding of how CLCs work\nAn appreciation for how the CLC is related to the CLT (Community Land Trust) and to traditional housing co-ops\nAn overview of how Sociocracy fits in the picture\nIdeas and inspiration for the many ways to take part in a more cooperative and equitable future for community land\n\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet the Presenter\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoel Rothschild\nJoel (they/them) is a founding organizer of the Ecovillagers Alliance\, the primary organization in support of Community Land Co-op organizing\, and currently a member of the Philadelphia-based CLC-in-formation\, Kibbbutz Pawpaw. With a background in cooperative governance\, urban design\, and peer-to-peer systems engineering\, Joel is an affiliated project manager of CoHousing Solutions’ 500 Communities initiative\, and past founder of the Ravenna Kibbutz\, a 2000s-era ecovillage neighborhood in Seattle\, where Joel is from. Joel is also a part-time professional cantor and enjoys leading groups in decision-making\, learning\, and community bonding activities as much as providing systems support from behind the scenes. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration\n \n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nThe Online Event Experience\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\nLive Zoom Sessions\nNothing pre-recorded here! SUMMARY:Joining an IC: Resolving Hidden Obstacles to Help You Make the Leap [Workshop]
DESCRIPTION:July 20th | 3-5pm Eastern \nJoining an IC: Resolving Hidden Obstacles to Help You Make the Leap\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHave you wanted to join an intentional community but something keeps preventing you from making the leap? Join Danielle Williams for a virtual workshop to explore your hidden obstacles and how to overcome them so you can make a joyful leap into community living. \n\nWhat’s stopping you from joining an intentional community? \nSome of the blocks you may be fully aware of\, but each of us has upper limits and inner obstacles that are harder to discover\, which keep us from making the leap to live the life we really want. Knowing them allows you to move beyond them. During this workshop\, you’ll get a chance to explore what’s stopping you – no what’s REALLY stopping you – from taking the leap and moving to the community you’ve been dreaming about. You might be surprised by what you find! You’ll also learn that\, once you know what’s really stopping you\, you can move beyond the obstacles\, making choices and taking actions that are in line with your whole vision. \n\nKey outcomes of this workshop:\n\nThe benefits of living in a cohousing project\, ecovillage\, or community\nThe challenges of living in community and when to know if it is worth it\nYOUR “hidden obstacles” to moving your dream of community living forward\nHow to integrate the wisdom of these obstacles and move beyond them\nTips for successfully moving into your ideal community\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\n\n\n\nMeet Your Facilitator\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDanielle Williams\nDanielle moved to Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage in 2012 after living and tasting the flavors at multiple other intentional communities in different countries. In 2016 she became the Executive Director for the nonprofit there\, which shares Dancing Rabbit’s unique flavor of hope and sustainable living inspiration with the world.  She delights in living in a 213 sq ft naturally built round house called the Hermitage. She originally hails from the state of Colorado\, and her skills are as diverse and varied as the places she’s lived since then (hypnotherapy\, breathwork\, facilitation\, marketing\, spreadsheets). Her degree in Peace & Global Studies informs her vision of how ecovillages are part of a global movement towards curing the social pandemic of loneliness and meaninglessness\, and creating a better world for everyone. She passionately cultivates the world she wants to pass on to future generations\, and living in community (amidst all of the highs & lows) is an integral part of that cultivation. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis workshop gave me a clearer vision of living in community\, and that I feel more confident that it is possible that the deep longings that live within me can indeed be met in sustainable community. I felt some of my hesitations melt away\, as I heard how common both the longings and hesitations are\, and Danielle’s personal pathway forward.” — Zucu I. \n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nRegistration\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \nThe Online Event Experience\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n \n \nLive Zoom Sessions\n \n \nNothing pre-recorded here!
