Long version:

Hi,
I’ve been working on farms for years, but rather than just get another job, this season, where everyone goes off to their separate lives at the end of the day, I’d like to find a place where people don’t leave. I’ve lived on a lot of farms and really enjoy it. I love the work and the lifestyle. One of my favorite times is walking home along a dirt road when the work day is done. Feeling connected to a piece of land is one of the best feelings in the world to me, but eventually when you’re living alone off the grid in a tent, camper or tiny house and the farm owners are living in a big fancy farm house, you might ask yourself “Is this the best version of community I can find?”

I realize that money is a necessity in this world, like it or not, but when our wants exceed our needs money becomes a priority over community. For me, living simpler has been the answer. I’d love to help farm a piece of land for the people I live on it with, build humble dwellings for them and myself, install off the grid systems and do whatever else I need to in order to support my community. I should warn you; my redneck friends think I’m a hippie and my hippie friends think I’m a redneck, but the truth is I’m just a hard worker who happens to be on a spiritual path. I just don’t go around talking about it endlessly. Actions speak louder than words, but I do enjoy discussing it and growing as a person in my down time so I’m hoping to find other people to share this down time with who want to live simply and grow, too, as well as their own food on the land they live on.

I’ve traveled and investigated the intentional community scene a little bit and what I’ve learned is that I’m hoping to find an established group of people rather than one or two trying to start something on their own (Thank you to all the individuals who have reached out to me!). I believe relationships take time and it takes a village to support this growth. I will be reaching out directly to communities that I’m interested in, but I thought posting something here would be a useful way to introduce myself to those who may not have an online presence, yet possibly check here for potential recruits:) I have a truck and tools, but I’m not limiting myself to places I can only drive to. Hopping on a plane is certainly an option. I’m presently on the east coast of the U.S., 30min. south of Boston.

Thank you for reading and Happy spring!
