ElderSpirit Community, an intentional Community founded in 2006 as an active intentional community of mutual support and spirituality, seeks a new member to rent an on-campus one-bedroom, 590 square foot apartment.
For this apartment, the applicant must qualify for HUD subsidized rental, with income not to exceed $24,650/year.
Our Mission is: “To be a participatory community of mutual support in which all spiritual paths are respected and encouraged.”
ElderSpirit is nestled in the Great Valley of Virginia, at 2,000 feet of elevation, between the Blue Ridge and the ridges of Appalachia, in the town of Abingdon. The campus is along the 17-mile Virginia Creeper Rail-Trail, within walking distance of the Barter, the State Theatre of Virginia.
This is a unique intentional, mixed-income, participatory, co-housing Community of active elders, 55 and older. The founders created a Community with thirteen privately owned houses and sixteen low-income one and two-bedroom apartments.
Recognizing that this is a time in our lives to explore and cultivate the spiritual aspects of our nature, we are committed to aging in community, with spirit. Living closely in community opens doors of personal awareness, growth and social well-being.
