Aging in place is not always an option

Springdale area E. WA State

20 years ago we bought our land near Springdale in E. Washington state. Over the years the land has supported us along with horses [8!!], pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys…along with a variety of flora including the wonderful resident pines. The animals are gone now. But the botanics remain as, besides the pines, we have in excess of 30 organically grown food bearing trees, bushes, and grapes. Of these, most are trees: Apples, peaches, pears, mulberries, cherries, and an apricot. However the apricot is somewhat theoretical. While its physical presence is conventional, its fruitfulness is just a dream as it always blossoms, sets fruit, but never delivers. While we try not to hold grudges, this individual has been an organically grown challenge.

We are at the point now where it is quite clear that we can’t continue to maintain and develop the property. We have already fallen way behind.  No violins necessary; this is just a fact of life and we are mostly comfortable with it. The house is run down and outdated; the land is overgrown; our Forest Friends, the  pines, are in great need of their regular manicures and disease maintenance, especially given the increasing effects of climate change.

We have choices. We could either sell to benefit a few [investors keep contacting us with their needs and ideas], or we could embark on an insecure, unique, and undefined path such as making possible something like an intentional community that could benefit many. On this potential path, it is not our intent [or ability] to create, but instead to make creation possible by providing an incredible infrastructure for others to work with. Hopefully people with more skills, experiences, and brain power will be able to take this project to a higher level.

The Land:     10 divisible acres, 3br 2ba house, garage. Good soil; good sun; good water. 14 gpm well, partially fenced. Forest, meadow, and organic garden areas.

Financing: TBD

In Conclusion   We have provided lots of information here. If you respond, please feel free to do the same. Your response will be your primary introduction to us… so share some details. Altho we love admirers, we are not interested in acquiring penpals–Communication needs to be focused and complete so we can move forward efficiently/ directly. So again, share some details.
