Seeking resident(s) – Zephyr Creek Crossing near Berea, Kentucky.  We are a small “intentional” community of  four families conveniently located about ten miles between Berea, KY and Richmond, KY – at the crossroads of Highways 1295 and 595 only a few minutes from EKU and/or Berea College and 40 minutes below Lexington, KY.  Our community was founded in 2008 and has been busy working toward our goals since then.

We are accepting applications for residency (max two residents) for one of our units – an upstairs unit, available in July. It is a lovely, private – one bedroom plus an open den arrangement (about 800 sq feet).  Partially furnished, you will find a cabin with wood floors, upgraded cabinets, appliances, free standing air conditioner/heater heat pump, plus an energy efficient wood burning stove for cozy winters.  It also has a private wood deck overlooking a treed country hillside

We are looking for resident(s) – max 2, who share our view of neighborliness and ecology and want to live in a community focused on neighborliness, sustainability and ecological living. In addition to a monthly rental fee, each resident is asked to contribute a minimum of four hours a month to the development of the community. This can be fulfilled in many different ways – recycling, gardening, mowing or pulling weeds, carpentry, assisting with other onsite needs, etc. Everyone’s talents and needs vary – so we try to create a community that contributes to the common good, by using our individual talents to create a solid, warm neighborhood.  Occasionally, we share a cup of coffee and/or meal together – and chat story as time permits.

Resident’s monthly rental is $900 which includes all utilities, shared DSL WIFI and cable TV.  Other fees include a $800 refundable security deposit, $100 nonrefundable cleaning deposit (nonrefundable).  ($1800 to move in).  Most pets are approved, but there is an additional $50 monthly pet fee per pet.  (They should also be able to get along with the existing cats and dog already here.)  We occasionally share trips to town, but no public transportation is available – so tenants should have personal transportation.

Zephyr is easily accessed from I-75, off state highway 1295, on about 3 treed acres, with nearest neighbors 1/2 mile away so lots of privacy and country – yet only a few minutes to town. We have been organic farming now for several years and if you are interested – we always  welcome extra hands in the garden.  Are you interested in beekeeping or raising chickens?  Extra points!  We are looking for an onsite bee keeper for our 4 deck hive and have a chicken house/pen that needs a little fixing up.  Berea is a beautiful little college town, with lots of character and opportunity. Considered the Arts and Craft Capitol of Kentucky, there are lots of opportunities to take classes in the arts, listen/participate in music venues and stay active!  My husband and I retired here from Seattle in 2008 and love Kentucky!!  If you have an interest in finding out more about Zephyr Creek Crossing – don’t hesitate to give us a call: 859 408-1564 and look into scheduling an onsite tour.  Additional information and pics can be found on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/zephyrcreek/.
