DESCRIPTION:The Joys and Challenges of Children in Community  \nWednesday\, September 20\, 2023  \n\nPacific: 9:00-11:00am\nMountain: 10:00am-12:00pm\nCentral: 11:00am-1:00pm\nEastern: 12:00-2:00pm\n\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nJoin parents and community co-founders Amy Saloner & Jessica Plancich Shinners to explore the joys and challenges of children in community. \n\nAbout the event\n \nCan you remember the day that you decided that you wanted to live intentionally in community as a way to collaboratively raise your kids?  \n \nYou have a plethora of educational resources just next door; you have the support of your neighbors to help guide your children through life transitions and initiations; and you have the village offering life skills that they may not have received elsewhere.  \n \nHaving this vast network of parents to help raise your kids can be life-changing — and the challenges just as great. You may find that this vast network has many differing ideas on how to care for children\, how to educate them\, and how to discipline them. Instead of viewing these differing ideas as a challenge\, we can perceive them as opportunities for growth\, both for your family and for the community as well. It won’t be easy\, but it will be worth it.  \n \nJoin us for this workshop to discover the joys and challenges of raising children in community\, and learn how to mitigate these community circumstance with ease and grace. \n \nIn this workshop\, you’ll:\n\nexplore your personal narratives around child rearing\ndive into both the joys and challenges of raising children in community\nrevise your expectations around raising children cooperatively\n\n\nAbout your presenters\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAmy Saloner\n \nAmy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. She has worked for the last thirty years with children and families as a therapist\, parent and teen coach\, educator\, birth advocate and community builder. Amy has worked in non-profit and for-profit organizations as well as as an entrepreneur. She and her husband co-founded The Emerald Village Intentional Community in North County San Diego with four other families twelve years ago. She is the mother to three adolescents\, ages 23\, 16 and 13. Amy is currently working at the intersection of mental health\, nutrition and community building for teens and their families\, specializing in optimal health\, relationships and rites of passage into young adulthood. \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJessica Plancich Shinners\n \nWith a Master’s in clinical psychology\, a doctorate in Organizational Leadership (Ed.D. Pepperdine University)\, and 20-year psychotherapy practice as a marriage and family therapist\, Jessica applies a whole human approach to consulting that nurtures body\, mind\, and spirit so the wisdom of the heart can be awakened. After years of witnessing the limitations of Western psychology\, she sought training in Eastern approaches to healing and wellness. With certifications as a yoga and qi gong instructor and massage therapist\, Jessica utilizes a holistic and somatic approach to her work as a communitarian and social architect. As a co-founder of the Emerald Village\, she and her husband birthed and raised their 7 year-old daughter in a community context. They have since moved to Southern Oregon to begin another large land based\, community endeavor. \n \n\n\n\nLocation\n \nYou’ll get the Zoom link after you register in your confirmation email.
