SUMMARY:Designing Equitable and Accountable Communities
DESCRIPTION:Designing Equitable and Accountable Communities \n\n\n\nTuesday\, June 13\, 2023 \n\n\n\n\nPacific: 11:00am-12:30pm\n\n\n\nMountain: 12:00-1:30pm\n\n\n\nCentral: 1:00-2:30pm\n\n\n\nEastern: 2:00-3:30pm\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin Spring Up’s Leander and Stas Phoenix for an interactive workshop on how you can design equitable and accountable community. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the event\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCommunity accountability is about translating values into practice\, practicing generative conflict\, preventing and responding to harm without centering liability or the state\, and responding to patterns of harm and conflict through emergent and adaptive organizational strategy. Spring Up’s frameworks of accountability and the Organizational Accountability Wheel are informed by grassroots transformative justice and community accountability practice\, and draw on the wisdom of the Indigenous Medicine Wheel\, as expressed by the People of Standing Rock / Lakota and Ken Wilber’s Integral Theory. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe Designing Equitable and Accountable Communities workshop revolves around the central question\, “What does it mean to practice equity and accountability as an individual\, a leader\, and–especially–within community?” This workshop reframes traditional diversity\, equity and inclusion (DEI) frameworks and practices\, standard professional best practices\, and accountability in an institutional setting to create a shared understanding of Community Accountability. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThis workshop is designed for leaders who want to interrogate their community’s accountability practices and identify how they can increase equity\, and to be an easily digestible introduction to some of these ideas\, with the ability to be adapted to fit your own organizations and communities. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDuring this workshop\, you’ll learn:\n\n\n\n\na holistic way to think of your strengths and growth areas as a community\n\n\n\na self-auditing tool to hold conversations with your community about trust and accountability\n\n\n\nhow to grow through equity\, accountability\, and conflict patterns you have struggled with\n\n\n\nhow to discern between personal\, community\, and organizational accountability\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout your presenters\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLeander & Stas S.R. Phoenix\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nLeander (they/he) and Stas (they/them) founded Spring Up in 2013-2014 to build a community of practice embodying consent and liberation within our relationships\, creative practices\, and daily lives. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFor 10 years\, Spring Up has used fiction\, art\, role play\, and community education to popularize the skills and frameworks necessary to be free together at bluelight academy of the liberatory arts. They have grown into a collective of 11 creatives\, care workers\, liberatory educators\, transformative justice practitioners\, and an alumni community of over 1500 people. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSpring Up hosts liberatory learning spaces through online classes\, print materials and curriculum\, retreats\, and coaching. They are a worker coop\, providing and receiving resources and support in reciprocal and accountable exchange with our community.
