Description

The primary goal of effective conflict work is relationship repair, not determination of blame. Nor is it a time of problem solving (that comes later, after the repair has been effected.) In this class we’ll lay out the importance of being able to bridge to the experience of each person in distress (so that they won’t feel isolated, or judged for being in reaction), and to assiduously steer clear of taking sides when facilitating. While the principles are not that difficult to grasp, doing so in the heat of the moment can be challenging. We will introduce a simple 4-step model for accomplishing this.

Distilled from more than three decades of working as a professional facilitator and trainer for cooperative groups, your instructor, Laird Schaub, will cover what you need to know to move through conflict with as much grace as possible.

In this class you’ll learn about:

  • the difference between determining blame vs problem solving vs relationship repair
  • a 4-step model for relationship repair

This class is suitable for people looking to visit or join a community, people looking to start/build a community, and people already living in community.
