
FIC is hiring a Programs Assistant
The FIC is seeking a Programs Assistant to support the Programs Director (PD) in administrative, technical, and customer service tasks throughout the setup, execution, and tracking of our virtual learning programs and content. The PA’s responsibilities are primarily technical with opportunities for creative and collaborative contribution to the development of programs and the FIC as a whole.
The Foundation for Intentional Community (FIC) is a fully remote, nonprofit organization which serves as a resource hub for the intentional communities movement. Our mission is to champion social, ecological, and economic justice and resiliency through the support and growth of cooperative culture and intentional communities.
The Programs Department supports FIC members to find, join, start, and succeed in their intentional communities by providing comprehensive education for the hard and soft skills necessary for successful community-building. It also supports the growth of the intentional community network through in-person events.

Programs Assistant Job Description
Application Deadline: February 3, 2026
Commitment: 40-60 hours per month, fulfillment each month can vary
Compensation: $20/hr, contractor position
Supervision: Reports to Programs Director and collaborates with Communications Director, Social Media Manager, eCommerce Manager, and IT Director
Location: Remote position, candidates must be available during North American working hours to accommodate staff meetings and virtual offerings.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Assist the PD in the setup and execution of courses and events on the FIC website including: editing graphics, setting up and hosting in Zoom, creating product and course/event pages, email and task automations
- Respond to customer service requests for website support and program registration
- Troubleshoot and/or report technical issues throughout all platforms used for programming
- Contribute to the automation and maintenance of our internal organization systems within (but not limited to) WordPress, Monday, Google Workspace, Zoom, Canva, Vimeo, Youtube, Metorik
- Key data tracking including program registration and platform engagement, traffic, and clicks through Metorik, WordPress, Google Analytics and YouTube Studio
- Contribute to the coordination, content creation, and execution of program promotion with MarComms team
Additional Responsibilities:
- Creatively contribute to the Programs Strategy vision
- Assist the PD in building and maintaining relationships with instructors, presenters and potential partners
- Attend weekly staff meetings and periodic meetings with marketing team
- General staff communications via Slack & email
- Coordinate and delegate tasks to Programs volunteer/s
Required Skills and Experience:
- 1+ years experience and working knowledge of WordPress (building pages, creating products, creating automations, and troubleshooting technical issues)
- 2+ years experience in customer support
- Working knowledge of Monday, Slack, Google Workplace, Zoom, and Canva
- Basic experience with video editing
- Effective and compassionate communication skills with an awareness of cultural nuances across race, gender, age, class, political affiliations, nationality, and more
- Ability to be self-motivated and accountable to task-management systems
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
- Ability to identify ineffective organizational systems and implement effective solutions including automations
- Knowledge of website and social media user trends
- Available remotely with reliable internet connection for office hours between 7am and 5pm Pacific Time US (GMT -8)
Additional Desired Skills:
- Highly aligned with the vision and mission of the FIC
- Experience living in and/or visiting multiple intentional communities
- Lived experience and understanding of the challenges that intentional communities face, as well as the topics and community-leaders that would interest program participants
- Basic understanding of implementing AI tools for effective workflows
- Desire to continue gaining technical skills for better workflow on our platforms
- Experience with copy editing of marketing materials
- Desire to creatively grow the Programs Department through outreach, hybrid and in -person events, and partnerships
