September 16th | 3-4:30pm Eastern

Lost Valley Educational Center and its onsite community Meadowsong Ecovillage, have a lot of moving parts and legal elements to their well-established community. Seasoned communitarians Colin and See will be guiding us through how they’ve maintained a thriving community via their legal elements.

They’ll be covering their community zoning, community living agreements, legal protection waivers, leases with residents and agreements with work-traders, insurance protections, site plan application process and their unique system of credited chores.

During this session you will learn:

  • An on-the-ground example of how a well-established community has recently handled its legal elements
  • Info on a variety of different legal/agreement sides to the community (beyond forming community debates about LLC vs 501(c)3, etc)
  • Examples and suggestions of both formal, binding arrangements and internal, non-binding agreements

Meet the Presenters

Colin Doyle

Colin has been living at Meadowsong Ecovillage since 2010, and for most of that time has been a staff member. He organized the hands-on Permaculture Internship Program, Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) courses, and later the Holistic Sustainability Semester. He served as the Event Director for the business’ conference center for about 5 years. He has visited a smattering of other intentional communities around the world, and has had many articles published in Communities Magazine.

See

See is currently serving as Lost Valley’s Bookkeeper. She hails from Colorado, but has traveled all over the world. She spent two years in Portland and has called Lost Valley her home since 2019. She was drawn to the community because of the opportunity to live more lightly on the earth and in a more natural environment.

Loved by Community Builders

What a beautiful gift to our intentional community builders and leaders! FIC’s programs provide a way for thinking and concerned people to collaborate for solutions to our multitude of global crises. Thank you FIC!Terri Garcia

I am constantly impressed by the down-to-earth practicality of the FIC workshops combined with the philosophical questions that are so vital for us to explore. I’m grateful for the excellent planning and delivery of the workshops by skilled and inclusive presenters, who create a space that is both welcoming and invites participants to challenge existing ideas and world views. Well done and thank you FIC.Claire Ogden
