Job Description
The Foundation for Intentional Community (FIC) is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting intentional communities and cooperative culture. We are seeking a Social Media Intern to support our communications work and help increase the reach and impact of our online presence.
This internship is ideal for someone with prior experience in social media or digital marketing who is looking to build a portfolio, gain nonprofit communications experience, and support the intentional communities movement in creating a more cooperative and sustainable world.
Time commitment: 5–8 hours/week
Duration: 5–6 months (minimum)
Location: Remote
Compensation: Unpaid internship (for academic credit or portfolio development)

Reports to: Communications Manager
What you’ll do
- Draft social media posts using existing templates and brand guidelines
- Schedule posts across platforms
- Research trends and bring ideas to reach a wider audience
- Support outreach to aligned creators and partners
- Compile and summarize social media analytics using Meta Business Suite
- Support sponsor and partner content on social media (posting, tagging, tracking)
- Monitor and respond to comments and messages using clear guidelines
- Engaging with the feed
- Assist with newsletter reviewing, when necessary
- Support with courses and webinar promotions, mainly through repackaging content and copywriting
What we’re looking for
- Prior experience supporting social media accounts or creating digital content
- Familiarity with platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin (others a plus)
- Basic comfort with analytics and performance tracking
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Interest in community, cooperative culture, and social impact work
- Graphic design and video editing skills a plus
