Join author and co-founder of the Wellspring Cooperative, Emily Kawano, in an interactive presentation where we learn to reimagine an economic framework grounded in solidarity, democracy, equity, sustainability, and pluralism.
About the event
You may have heard the quote attributed to Fredric Jameson and Slavoj Žižek: “It is easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism,” which describes how our economic system is so deeply engrained into our culture, that it can be easy for many to view capitalism as a permanent fixture in our global systems.
In this interactive webinar, Emily will introduce the concept of Solidarity Economy and the ways it is being put to use now on a local and global scale. Together we will not only imagine but articulate an economic system beyond extractive and hyper-individualistic culture with the support of real world examples.
In this session, you will:
- Learn about real world examples where communities are adopting alternative economic models that put people and planet first
- Learn to identify the ways in which our current economic systems show up in our ways of thinking, being, and relating on a micro and macro scale
- Identify practical alternatives and ways of practicing Solidarity Economy that you can put to use today
