One of the great things about the growing interest in intentional living is how easily groups like FIC can connect and collaborate with related organizations. From neurodiverse cohousing networks to online permaculture classes, there are hundreds of groups out there with values that overlap with our own.
This week, we bring you updates from the New Economy Coalition, a Boston-based organization that connects groups advocating for social, economic, and environmental justice. NEC describes itself as “a network of organizations imagining and building a future where people, communities, and ecosystems thrive. Together, we are creating deep change in our economy and politics—placing power in the hands of people and uprooting legacies of harm—so that a fundamentally new system can take root.”
NEC is looking for a Network Organizer to work full-time (preferably from its offices in Boston or Brooklyn) to facilitate communication within its network. They welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and perspectives, and do not have specific degree or education requirements for the role:
“This position will play a critical role in tapping the collaborative potential of allied, but often siloed, groups involved in imagining, campaigning for, and building a New Economy…. Primary responsibilities include supporting a culture of member to member connectivity, collaboration, and leadership, ensuring the provision of high-quality member services, maintaining healthy ongoing communication between staff and network members, supporting the growth of network membership, and contributing to ongoing organizational learning and development.”
NEC is also looking for a part-time Communications Coordinator, and invites local or remote applicants. Here are a few of the projects this candidate will be involved in:
“Solicit and edit original and reposted content for the NEC blog at neweconomy.net, building out the platform into a go-to source for new economy ideas and movement news” “Assist the rest of the programs and communications team in developing and implementing the communications strategy for CommonBound 2016.”

Participants will share strategies and stories, build relationships, highlight achievements, and chart a shared path toward a society that puts people and planet first.”
