How Housing Policies of the Past Impact Diversity in Intentional Communities Today
Join us for an enlightening webinar on the history of land distribution in the US and how you can be a better ally to marginalized people within your community.
Join PhD student, Camille Gladieux, for a short lecture on housing policy within the context of the United States and how it impacts the movement for intentional communities. Camille will cover main points to consider when designing and creating intentional communities to include racial and economic diversity. There will be a portion of this event dedicated to Q&A so please bring your curiosity and questions!
Key outcomes of this workshop:
- Gain a better historical understanding of the distribution of land within the context of the United States and the political power that comes with it
- Learn how to be a better ally or accomplice to marginalized communities within the Intentional Communities Movement
- Learn practical steps to design, implement, and create more diverse communities while being mindful of power dynamics within living environments
Camille is a second-year PhD student with a concentration in Economic and Racial Equity at Brandeis University’s Heller School for Social Policy and Management. They are interested in Housing Policy and the creation of Intentional Housing Communities as a way to address widespread social isolation, climate resilient housing, and affordability.
