Virtual Tour of Intentional Communities – East Wind Community

About the Workshops

Overview

Founded in 1974 and nestled in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of southern Missouri, East Wind Community is one of America’s longest-established income-sharing intentional communities. For more than 50 years, its members have embraced a cooperative way of life, sharing income, resources, responsibilities, and decision-making.

Spread across more than 1,000 acres of forests, gardens, and farmland, East Wind offers a fascinating example of cooperative living in action. Members work together to grow food, maintain their shared spaces, and operate successful community-owned businesses, including the well-known East Wind Nut Butters.

With no traditional bosses and a strong emphasis on personal freedom, cooperation, and democratic decision-making, East Wind has spent more than five decades exploring what it means to live and work together.
