Communities Presenting in August

Beacon Hill Friends House

Beacon Hill Friends House is located on historic Beacon Hill in Boston, Massachusetts, a few blocks from the State House. The building was originally built in 1803. Since being given to Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in 1957, the building has become a center for the Quaker community and others in the Boston area. 21 Residents (of many faith and non-faith traditions) live at the house for up to four years. We create community through house dinners cooked by our kitchen manager, sharing chores and community-building responsibilities, and two house meetings a month.

AllWays Intentional Community

AllWays is a developing intentional community in the Athens, GA Area with the focus to provide religious infrastructure and support to Pagans. On October 16, 2020, we were able to purchase, through the AllWays Lands and Grounds Association LLC, a tract of property, totaling nearly 49 acres, north of Vincent Drive in Northwest Clarke County. We plan to provide outdoor, and eventually, indoor, spaces for Pagans, and others, to use in spiritual or religious practice. We plan that these areas be supported and maintained by an on-site, planned community. Community members need not be Pagan.

Bruderhof Communities

We are a community of Christians who, inspired by the early church, share all our money and possessions. We believe that God wants to transform our world, here and now. This takes a life of discipleship and commitment; when you truly love your neighbor as yourself, peace and justice become a reality. The Bruderhof movement includes communities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Paraguay, Australia, and South Korea. Communities are rural, urban, big and small.

Testimonials for Virtual Tour of Intentional Communities

“This is my first exposure to intentional living situations. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the possibilities and the underlying thinking that informs this kind of living choice. The presenters were excellent. It was great to see the different settings and to hear the various questions related to these three living situations. Thank you so much for this presentation.”

-Leslie Slate

“Great photos and narratives about the philosophy and diversity of communities. I learned about thinks I didn’t know and was given the opportunity to ask all my questions, which were answered in a comprehensive manner.”
