What we do

Hello, welcome to our page!!
In 2021 a huge flood eroded the river bank that the community is on where we lost land 60 feet of land and two structures (no one was hurt). We decided that it would be dangerous to have a full time community live on the land. We however continue to visit and tend to the land throughout the year and the land is part of our strategy of resiliency in an ever changing and tumultuous world.
We prioritize sustainable living through community interdependence, and hope to provide space for everyone’s gifts to blossom. A primary focus of ours is living out a consciousness that is courageously focused on being present and attentive to the world- the ways in which it’s beautiful, and the ways in which it is scary, sad, and unjust. We see this presence as necessary to inform our vision and actions toward transformation in the world and any hope for a sustainable future. We are focused on embodying a community-oriented climate justice model both on the land and off-site involving food forestry, off grid living, and rural organizing. We are minimizing our fossil fuel use, trying to grow and forage our food, and live in hand made tiny homes on 5 acres on the Bogachiel River, in the Bogachiel rainforest.
Our community members have a range of focus and passions such as music, meditation, herbalism, permaculture, foraging, gardening, Nonviolent Communication facilitation, community organizing, gift economy, support for people who are incarcerated, decarceration, and transformative justice. We strive to honor the uniqueness of each individual, while acknowledging and responding in compassionate ways to the effects social structures have on our identities and lives. We see ourselves as a sanctuary for all, especially those who experience marginalization and oppression. When you come out here you can expect to be treated with respect and compassion. This space is cultivated for self-expression, creativity, and play! We deeply value action that comes from a place of purpose and joy, rather than obligation.
A few questions we ask people to answer to apply as a guest for this community so there might be some clarity for us about what you are fired up about in life:
-What draws you to be a part of this community space?-How do you embody your values in the world?-What is your focus in life? What do you hope to bring into your life by joining our community?-What are your plans for leaving? Where do you intend to go once your visit is complete? If you are planning to visit, please have a way to arrive and depart from Forks, WA.
These are values that we share: anti-racism, anti-fascism, anti-ableism, anti-sexism, lgbtq+ inclusive, anti-authoritarian, co-operative, sharing, conflict resolution, decolonization, anti-imperialism, trauma healing, anti-capitalism, anti-state, gift economy, and the abolition of prisons/police/colonial courts/borders/slavery/and all currencies. Based on our experience in our community, if you are not willing to work through conflict, it won’t be a good fit for you living out here. Conflict is part of life and living in community and we strive to move through conflict more skillfully each time it comes up.
An important disclosure is that, though we are in the process of building up our off-grid infrastructure, we have wood heat, water catchment, an outdoor shower, and very limited electricity. Another thing to consider is that we live 20 minutes from Forks, WA and 1.5 hours from Port Angeles. It’s a very common experience to feel lonely out here because of how far we are from other friends and family. One of the remedies for this loneliness is to be in community together: sharing stories, playing music, cooking, gardening, swimming in the river, sharing feelings, sharing dreams (the ones from sleep and the ones for the future), creating art, and sharing skills.
Other points if affinity include-
Herbalism, music making, crafting, food preservation, Nonviolent Communication, abolitionist organizing, rural organizing, the Land Back movement.
Thank you for stopping by and reading what we have to say! We look forward to meeting you!! :)

Our Mission

We are located on the West End of the Olympic Peninsula that is co-creating an egalitarian, peacemaking, and sustainable way of life. We seek to explore and practice this way of life through restorative/transformative justice, prison abolition, permaculture, trauma work, gift-economy, and the common holding of expenses, land and resources. Besides engaging in community, we want to act for global systemic change. We seek to accomplish this by stewarding a larger culture of anti- authoritarian egalitarianism around us to empower this possibility. We acknowledge we can’t be free till all beings are free.

Healing Love Healing Money: Trust As The Foundation For A New Culture

Money, love and power are among the hardest things any community works with, and many of us carry the same fears into both: not having enough, losing what we have, and the sense that if someone else gets money or love, we won’t. Healing Love, Healing Money: Trust as the Foundation for a New Culture is taught by two intentional communities. Karen McAllister and Duncan Cryle are from Clear Sky Meditation and Retreat Center, a Buddhist-lineage community in the BC Rockies. Monika Alleweldt and Benjamin von Mendelssohn from Tamera Healing Biotope, a community of about 160 people in southern Portugal that has spent decades studying love, trust and relationship. Clear Sky has spent years working on its relationship with money, and our two communities found surprising parallels in the fears beneath both. Over four sessions we explore the roots of fear around money and belonging, love, possession and power, trust as infrastructure (community as a container for healing), and ethical livelihood. We use short meditations, body-based practices, reflection and small-group conversation. You do not need to be in a romantic relationship or live in community. When: October 27, Nov 3, 10, 17. All four sessions: 12–2pm Vancouver, 1–3pm Alberta, 7–9pm UK and Portugal, 8–10pm Central Europe. Note: US and some Canadian provinces change clocks on November 1, so the US west coast is 12–2pm on October 27, then 11am–1pm for the remaining sessions, and Eastern is 3–5pm on October 27, then 2–4pm for the rest. Cost: sliding scale Details and registration: https://www.clearskycenter.org/event/healing-love-healing-money-online/

Do you feel called to help co-create a small, newly forming eco-spiritual community?

Old structures are crumbling. New ways of living are calling. We are answering that call. Wild Grace is an eco-spiritual community located in the Sierra foothills 30 minutes from Grass Valley, California. We recently completed new homes for those who feel called to our vision. Currently there are four of us living on this sacred 80 acres of land although we are a hub for an expanded neighborhood community. Many join us weekly for potlucks, expressive dance, Qi Gong, monthly musical gatherings, and seasonal celebrations in our temple, as well as tending to our orchard. We are excited to welcome others to join us on the land who are dedicating their lives to spiritual growth and ready to live in a more focused and intimate heart-centered lifestyle. Might that be you or someone you know? The fundamentals are simple. Spirit. We listen personally and collectively together most mornings, usually starting with a musical offering, a prayer, or a short reading, followed by about 40 minutes of what we call “sacred silence.” Heart Circles. About once a week we gather to share and listen. We are informed by authentic and compassionate communication practices. Nature. The land itself—an 80-acre oasis of field and forest perched above the wild and scenic South Yuba River—calls for our stewardship in the gardens, orchard, greenhouses, and general care. In turn, nature feeds us abundantly, both literally and spiritually. Interbeing. We join with others to share inspiration and connection as we host monthly gatherings of song, story and prayer that draws from the larger community in addition to other events we share with our closer neighbors. As we attend to these fundamentals, Grace flows to and through us—often in “Wild” or unexpected ways. Grace catalyzes through us, but is not something we possess. Because we all are connected, we feel that Grace actively transforms n

Description: Willits, CA, Pacific Northwest rainforest system. Forest Haven is seeking forest lovers who value solitude. We have several areas in the main compound and a few tucked away in private. Space is designed for your RV / Tiny Home / +++. We will add power and water for each new Steward’s space. Land: 40 acres(17 hectares), 3ac for humans. Year-round creek at base of parcel. Heavy trees, 40 meter-ish high. Conifer mix. With a large south-facing common garden.   New forest stewards have agreed to prioritize tree health. We never cut for wood or sale.  Stewards agree to walk the forest daily as our one required 20-minute group activity.    Limit the number of dwellings to 3-5 Total. There are 8 common buildings, with 3 having flush toilets and one with a hot shower, washer and dryer. We are 100% off-grid.  We have a natural spring and solar. The full-size common kitchen is large enough to process the garden harvest and more. Remote workers and retirees’ welcome. Full online and cell service available.    Forest Haven is currently a private forest reserve.   If 2 households sign on, it will become a 501(c)(3). Each person’s “donation/rent” will be tax-deductible. This is a private forest reserve going public as a nonprofit.    Please inquire if you want to help in a small way using basic permaculture methods to improve our forest’s health, message me to learn more.
