Have you ever wanted to help create a closed loop food security system in a challenging and harsh climate plus learn new skill sets? We have a stewardship center in the high desert of Northwest New Mexico at 7400 ft.
We focus on resilient adaptive low input systems using traditional ecological knowledge with our livestock, crops and land stewardship on our 60 acres. We are doing many innovative water harvesting and drought response techniques this summer in collaboration with local BIPOC farms and Farmers. We also conserve indigenous crop varieties and rematriate to the community.
We are looking for an apprentice and future community members. We are a multi-generational group of Non-Masking autistic ,queer /trans land stewards working together to support each other and accommodate our multiple disabilities.
We practice deconstruction culture and natural hierarchy based on responsibility. We do not practice toxic positivity.
The goal is also to build infrastructure to provide sanctuary for trans and autistic folks fleeing the current regime.

This is a harsh and wild place. We are inside the Navajo Nation their rules must be respected. You must be willing to work with nature, we have dirt roads and sometimes extreme weather conditions, you must be willing to plan your activities around that. You must come with a fully functional and well maintained vehicle capable of traveling on slick and muddy roads along with making the hour and a half long trip to Gallup , Grants or Albuquerque to get supplies in town. We have two large bell tents for visitors and a camping area . Further accommodations can be discussed for accepted new members. We provide a shared meal on work days and basic ingredients for other meals . We provide conscious use of water, electricity internet, laundry and showers. If you take a shower everyday this is not the place for you.
*Note to fellow queers- There is a not so radical fairie sanctuary nearby we are not affiliated with them in any way. The radical fairie community is a cult. The “community” here is very toxic, ableist and based on outdated and dangerous power structures, toxic positivity, gaslighting New age principles. One of our founding members, Lucas Knapp A trans trans farmer , was murdered just down the road in April. So in short we strive to be a safe community within a dangerous community.
We are looking for a few folks to join our community. It will take time for us to get to know each other we are looking for very specific qualities in new members. Real accountability not The new age version, deconstructing fawn response, practicing self-care or willing to learn , deconstructing everything race, culture hierarchy but first of all yourself. Clear communication and ability to ask questions I love questions. Ability to tolerate my very direct communication style without making it about you, I am on a mission and very autistic and have flat effect ask me don’t project. Have examined ableism two of our members are experiencing debilitating chronic health issues and I the main instructor carefully monitor my health we don’t exert ourselves here but we always do what we can and have personal accountability. Sometimes we just can’t do the project that day and we have to reschedule. So someone who can work well with these Dynamics would be a good candidate for the community.

Message and we will see if we are a good fit for each other. We do not conform to social norms and do not expect you to either this is not a job interview this is a authenticity interview. If you look like a good candidate then we will do a video call with the other members once accepted we will make a plan that will accommodate everyone’s needs and sign a breif contract so everyone is protected. More extensive tenant contract for long-term visitors.

Current members are all leaders in their specialties. We generally practice non-hierarchy but with an indigenous consciousness lens of natural hierarchy based on responsibility. I have a lot of responsibility and therefore I will be aware of systems that you are not. Sometimes I won’t be able to accommodate your suggestions or redirections because my little autistic brain can’t explain every layer of why but generally I love to explain why and give participants as much freedom to experiment as I can without impacting the project. If it impacts the project sometimes you just need to take a hard no and I will absolutely explain why when I have more spoons. My land partner who has the responsibility of all of the LLC demands to keep the property running is rarely punctual and it will often take a few days to get a project going with her but when she shows up she shows up with all the tools and all the knowledge. Once we have a stable community member we will have regular meetings we have our own natural flow going at this point but will restructure the community as it grows.

There is currently no sustainable way to draw a income from the space or the community. We are looking to create a retail space and serve harvest host. There are many tourists coming through the area we hope to utilize that to generate income.
