I envision the creation of a pocket neighborhood in my neighborhood of 30 years. A block of 6 homes share their backyard boundaries. While each house would retain its own lot, the homeowners would enter into an agreement using sociocratic method to manage the land and use of the amenities that each house offers and build personal relationships. An intentional community that wants to have regular meetings to coordinate the care of the acreage, schedule weekly meals to share and to foster contact are initial ideas. We are looking for someone who lives in Oregon or would like to live in Oregon who wants to help us clean up our new far, property and start building some off grid housing, compost toilets, fireplaces for cooking and building the farm out. We have about 10 acres and several barns, power on site for small wall tents for campers, solar panels we can setup and sooo soo much more to do.  Ideally this person would be around our age, late 20’s -early 30’s, family friendly as we have a daughter and family out sometimes. We are not looking for “anarchist” who see the glass half full and wants to ‘burn down the system’ as we farm and sell to the public, we rely on the system to pay our bills… that is really the only caveat. No hard drugs and no hard political opinions as we prefer to focus on our back-to-the-land culture, not the problem we cannot control outside the farm.  You tired of the noise and want some solitude? Parker Street Cooperative (PSC) – a co-owned housing co-op in Berkeley – has two openings for 1-bedroom units for new prospective members! THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS 11:59PM ON NOV 1ST, 2026 You can find the application on our website at parkerstcoop.org Our monthly assessment for a 1-bedroom will likely be just $675 (compared with average rent of about $2,400 for a 1-bedroom in Berkeley). This covers all our shared costs. This is a great opportunity to become a fellow co-owner at a very affordable cost and secure long-term low-cost housing with a co-op community in a fantastic location in Berkeley! The current  share price for a 1-bedroom membership is about $30,600 (which is a small fraction of market rates and entirely refunded/sold back with nominal interest if a member leaves the co-op) ONE-TIME CAPITAL CONTRIBUTION FEE Lastly, if admitted, becoming a member also requires a one-time, nonrefundable $6,000 Capital Contribution Fee, which helps sustain the co-op property. MAKING IT POSSIBLE We co-own and manage the property and work together to help keep it very affordable for us and for those who come after us. For that reason, we need people who are excited and prepared to contribute substantial time, energy, and skills to the co-op, such as project leadership, budget management, facilitation, conflict mediation, administration and/or gardening. An ability to get along with a wide range of different people is also highly desirable, and prior co-op experience, or similar experience with cooperative or community-based living, is a plus.
