What we do

We are Wholesome Alignment. Founded in 2018 by Callie and Zayne Ward. We have been a fluctuating group of people who seek to develop a better understanding of ourselves.
Over the years we have evolved from a monthly gathering of like minded people, to a traveling message across the country of health, to taking a brief pause to re assess our lives, to the now.
We plan on coming back full force to represent what we believe is the way humans were supposed to live.
The normal society in which we live is killing us slowly. If you are looking into joining an intentional community then I won’t have to explain.
We aren’t here to push religious or spiritual beliefs. But we are looking for people open to experiencing nature and slow living but with comforts we have learned to love.
I love nothing more than nature walks, farming, and playing with the animals. But some nights I want to curl up in my bed and watch some comfort movies or shows.
We are not seeking complete primal living. Humans were designed to grow and learn and this technology is what has brought us together in this moment.
What we wish to create is a modern homestead that can grow with the world as we choose. We will live consciously and independently.
Herbal medicines but not neglect medical necessities (medication or procedures).
Home grown food but not anger when something needs to be bought at a store.
Self sufficient but not a difficult life.
Homes School but not conditioning to a certain belief.
We have seen many things in our travels. People that have no compromise or are so stuck in their beliefs that they choose not to see the other options.
We want happiness and community. Friends that will share stories and help each other. A community where we can let the children run and not be afraid of where they may wander.
I want to end every night with a communal campfire but respect boundaries when people may be overwhelmed and need space. We are all healing from trauma in some form and we are not perfect. We help each other heal and process it. We are a community built on respect, love, and emotional growth.
The founders.
Zayne and Callie grew up in New Jersey (I know it is unfortunate. But it’s not that terrible.) Zayne works in the tech field and his wife is a hairdresser but is a part time author.
Both traveled in their van with their one year old son while running Wholesome Alignment completely virtually. We found work on farms and in campgrounds. We even set up a multitude of gatherings, meeting amazing and spiritually awakened individuals. W have explored much of the United States. We knew we couldn’t travel forever and that’s when we made our home base in New Jersey to stay close to relatives. While we plotted our next big move to full time homesteading. While we will be working remotely for quite some time our biggest hope is to generate enough income from the homestead to help cover any extra costs.
We enjoy anime, DND, reading, nature walks, foraging, cleaning up litter, as well as planting native species! I had a pretty gnarly bruise from an incident trying to kill Spotted Lanternflies in our area.
Zayne is into fitness and video games (playing and creating), Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, and retro video games.
Callie is into reading, writing, nature and spirituality, anime, art, and medicinal herbs and identifying them in my environment. I also LOVE wild mushrooms. They are the best to identify.
We also have two beautiful free spirited children.

Community House in SE Portland Seeks Membership!

Ellis Street Community House is seeking kind, present, and engaged new housemates with experience in community living. We are currently 3 adults, one baby, and two cats living in a 6 bedroom, 3 bath house on ÂĽ acre of land near Powell Butte nature park and the Springwater Corridor bike trail. We expect to be joined by a shy and sweet 2 year old in the next few months. For us, living in community is a collaborative process, one that helps improve our quality of life. We’re able to eat great food, keep the place clean, maintain a garden, and hold a space large enough to host guests and events by working together. We have an extensive community library and art/craft material collection, as well as a great tea selection, stocked pantry, and functional kitchens ready for feast-making, canning, and fermentation dreams. We make kombucha, ginger beer, sauerkraut, bone broth, natto, and apple/pear butter on a rotating basis. With two fridges and two deep freezers we can save blueberries and blackberries we harvested from close by and get meat directly from farmers. We hold potlucks and other events like bonfires and game nights about once a month, and make a house dinner together weekly. We maintain a home free from artificial fragrances and voice-activated technology. The larger downstairs room is available for $740 per month. The smaller downstairs room will be available for $600 per month starting on September 1rst. The main kitchen is on the second floor. We also have private outdoor space for someone sleeping in their home on wheels available for $200-500 per month depending on the size of the vehicle. This would include membership in the community and use of the common spaces. Guest space is available for friends and relatives of residents – upstairs there is an office/guest room for longer visits, and the couches/pads in the common areas are available for shorter stays. The home has heating and cooling through an efficient heat pump, and we ju
