We are a village of separate households of single people and families scattered over 100 hilly wooded acres. We homestead in varying degrees, living off-grid using some solar electricity and heating with wood and solar. We grow organically much of our fruits and vegetables; some eggs and meat. We’ve spent 57 years learning how to be good neighbours, which has been a worthwhile process.
Most of our children were home birthed; ages two years to thirteen. Swimming in our pond, trampolining, tobogganing, snowshoeing, folk dancing, ecstatic dancing, crafting/mending nights, new-moon women’s circles, music jams, and potlucks are some of the things we do for fun. We all share a love of nature, music and the arts.
We are a multi-generational community. We are all involved with the surrounding and supportive rural community in varying degrees.
Guests are welcome if they arrange in advance and help out while they’re here. Please write us describing who you are and why and when you would like to visit us. In order to live in harmony with Mother Earth and each other we are learning and practicing: Organic, regenerative, permaculture gardening and animal-raising, composting, Humanure composting, sustainable forestry, carpooling, cooperative food buying, non-violent communication, consensus decision making, light footprint on the land.

Morninglory is an intentional community where:
1) We share a commitment to homesteading on this Land and cooperating with,understanding, respecting and caring for one another, the Morninglory Community, the Land, its natural inhabitants, and the natural rhythm of life.
2) We have the freedom and opportunity to grow and flourish through living our collective and individual dreams.
First someone has to contact us. Then visit as a guest with a specific host for two weeks. Then ask the whole group to stay longer if a host can be found. After living on the land for all four seasons while attending weekly meetings, one may apply for membership.

A few people (not elected by the broader community) make the major decisions.
Everyone must agree before moving forward.
Power and responsibility are shared relatively equally among members.
The theme of the decision to be made decides whether it is a membership only decision or a decision for the whole adult community to decide. If there is a personal or group conflict, a Circle is called to resolve it. The circle process involves going around and around, each person given a chance to speak, with no speaking out of turn or responding to what is said, unless permission is given by the speaker. Listening with full attention and heart, with the interests of the Whole and of Peace at heart. Round and round until resolution and harmony arrive.
Members maintain separate personal finances with minimal sharing.

All contribute to the land taxes
All residents are expected to contribute to our occasional community work projects when they can.
Community expenses that benefit everyone, such as land tax, community building maintenance, road upgrades & maintenance, well upgrades and snow plowing, are paid for by our monthly “Maintenance Fees” dues for all adult residents.
Community projects that we all agree on are funded by our member share purchase price, and half our low rental fees. The other half of our rental fees go to upkeep of each cabin home
