What we do

MeiRong ecovillage is a loving community, where we take care of local resources and respect the limitations of the nature. We promote a sustainable value within the community, with self-cultivated food, exchange market, get together festivals, and more. Instead of stress and materialism, our village provides for a nurturing relationship, self-realisation & awareness.
MeiRong Village used to be a barren continent, which was formed by flooding and sedimentation in the past dynasties. It is surrounded by water and overgrown with thorns and grasses. There were tigers and wolves in the early years. The village was repeatedly invaded by river water due to its proximity to the Fuchun River, and crops were not harvested. Therefore, the predecessors planted fruit forests, especially plum trees, and Sui Ya called Meizhou. After the fifteenth year of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1750), plum trees were planted on the flat ground. There are many kinds of bayberry on the mountain. The plum blossom bayberry is famous, and green plum has become the most important economic crop. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, large areas of plum trees were destroyed, and villagers planted peaches, plums, chestnuts, oranges, and pears. During the period of agricultural cooperation in the 1950s, a fruit professional team was established to cultivate and manage 213 acres of fruit trees in the mountain forest. In 1980, about 30 acres of mulberry seedlings were added to the sericulture group. From 1967 to 1976, 230 acres of citrus groves were built in the village, which was contracted to 7 professional groups. The fruit output in 1992 was 297 thousand kilograms.
The village includes more than 2,000 acres of arable land, more than 6,000 acres of mountain forests, and more than 80 ancient buildings. Among them, the Luo Family House, Guohouwang Temple, Gong Family Ancestral Hall, and Shukeng Ancestral Hall are county-level cultural relics protection units.

Healing Love Healing Money: Trust As The Foundation For A New Culture

Money, love and power are among the hardest things any community works with, and many of us carry the same fears into both: not having enough, losing what we have, and the sense that if someone else gets money or love, we won’t. Healing Love, Healing Money: Trust as the Foundation for a New Culture is taught by two intentional communities. Karen McAllister and Duncan Cryle are from Clear Sky Meditation and Retreat Center, a Buddhist-lineage community in the BC Rockies. Monika Alleweldt and Benjamin von Mendelssohn from Tamera Healing Biotope, a community of about 160 people in southern Portugal that has spent decades studying love, trust and relationship. Clear Sky has spent years working on its relationship with money, and our two communities found surprising parallels in the fears beneath both. Over four sessions we explore the roots of fear around money and belonging, love, possession and power, trust as infrastructure (community as a container for healing), and ethical livelihood. We use short meditations, body-based practices, reflection and small-group conversation. You do not need to be in a romantic relationship or live in community. When: October 27, Nov 3, 10, 17. All four sessions: 12–2pm Vancouver, 1–3pm Alberta, 7–9pm UK and Portugal, 8–10pm Central Europe. Note: US and some Canadian provinces change clocks on November 1, so the US west coast is 12–2pm on October 27, then 11am–1pm for the remaining sessions, and Eastern is 3–5pm on October 27, then 2–4pm for the rest. Cost: sliding scale Details and registration: https://www.clearskycenter.org/event/healing-love-healing-money-online/
