We seek to create an alternative system for humankind which is far better than the current system within which we all live. The hope is that, as more and more people who don’t like the current system join this alternative, it will grow and grow, and eventually everyone will see that it is better than the way we’ve been living. Emberi will therefore change the world not by violent revolution but by being a choice that’s so much better than what we’ve been experiencing thus far that people will gravitate toward it of their own free will.
We believe that the single biggest problem in existence today is GREED.
Emberi (“EM-bur-ee”) is a Hungarian word meaning “the condition of being human”. Right now, the Human Community of Emberi exists only online, but at some point it will have to become established physically. We’re putting together the “seed group” that will establish it in reality.
We seek people who are dissatisfied with the way the system works – people who have a deep and well-thought-out desire to change the system. The Emberish system will inevitably become the way of the world sometime whether we make it happen or not – the only question is, will the transition be smooth or will it cause the eradication of most of the human race?
We seek to make it a smooth transition. The current system is responsible for almost all of the negativity experienced by humans of all types, and it is untenable. Someday the non-renewable resources we currently call “wealth” will run out, and the system as we know it will cease to operate. This is a mathematical certainty, inarguable by any opinion. An infinite amount of what we call “economic growth” on a finite planet is impossible. If this transition occurs abruptly, which will happen if change is not started now, most of the human race will die – either from starvation or from the widespread pandemonium that will erupt as soon as people become aware that they won’t be able to obtain food easily. Pretty much nobody wants this outcome, so we seek to prevent it in the only way possible – by developing an alternative system.
We operate by the Four Emberish Principles:
PRINCIPLE 1 (The Preservation of Humanity Principle): Cause no undesired harm to any person unless absolutely necessary to address an emergency.
(This Principle is ABSOLUTELY never to be violated unless your very survival depends upon violating it in an emergency situation, even if preserving it means you violate other Principles. They are all subordinate to Principle 1.)
PRINCIPLE 2 (The Platinum Rule Principle): Treat other people in the same way in which you would want to be treated if you were in their exact same situation.
PRINCIPLE 3 (The Communal Living Principle): Contribute to Emberi according to your ability, and take from Emberi only as much as you need.
PRINCIPLE 4 (The Goodness of Humanity Principle): Consider all humans good until and unless they prove to be otherwise.
(When they do “bad”, which nearly all people do today, it’s because of having been programmed badly by the current system, which Emberi seeks to change and will eventually change.)
We seek people who are passionate about changing the system, to join us and help us cement the system that will be best for all humans going forward. This system will also be what’s best for the environment; damaging the environment violates the First and Third Principles. As such we will focus on sustainable farming methods, humane treatment of animals, and off-grid living to as much of an extent as is possible. The ideal government structure of Emberi is one that is as “leaderless” as possible. The leader’s title is Chief Servant, so that even the leader knows that the position of leader is one of servitude. Ideally, visitors to Emberi would be unable to determine who the leader is, and by the time Emberi becomes large enough, even some members might not know who the leader is. In the ideal human system, leadership will be unnecessary due to an absence of greed. It IS possible to be entirely devoid of greed! Leaders will be teachers, leading from the natural knowledge gained through life experience, such that by today’s standards what would be closest to a “leader” in Emberi, our present society would call a “teacher” or a “mentor”.
All member income goes into common pool for community use.

Right now there is no “buy-in” to join a Facebook group!
Ideally, Emberi will have no buy-in fee. However, since we need to purchase property, there will naturally come a time when everyone will have to “pitch in” to buy the property and create the improvements thereon. The hazard in some people paying for the property and some people not paying for it is that the people who pay for it may feel that they have more authority in Emberi, and we seek to be as leaderless and egalitarian as possible.
If we can get a piece of property donated to us, naturally the “buy-in” will be less than if property must be purchased. Emberi will be established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and eventually all members will be part of that organization. We hope to get to a point where there is no buy-in required, and perhaps we’ll be able to establish Emberi on that basis.
We aim to reduce our dependence on the current monetary system as much as possible. Initially it will probably be impossible to be completely moneyless, but the end goal of Emberi is to be either completely moneyless, or to use as our “money” a type of currency that is fixed in its value and quantity such that any “money system” we would use cannot be corrupted by anyone… not that that ought to be likely in Emberi because the purpose of the movement to change the system is to abolish greed!
