Camino al Sol – Yaogará is a Colombian-owned medicine community and nature reserve in the mountains of El Retiro, Antioquia, approximately 45–60 minutes from Medellín. Several families live and work here, caring for the land and welcoming small groups into a traditional Colombian yagé retreat process.
Our life is rooted in family, service, collective care, spiritual practice, and respect for Colombia’s living medicine traditions. Yaogará includes homes, shared cabins, a communal kitchen, gardens, forest paths, a bohio, and a dedicated Medicine House. Daily life includes caring for the reserve, preparing food, maintaining buildings, raising children, making music, supporting guests, and stewarding community projects.
Camino al Sol offers structured five-night retreats with three guided yagé ceremonies held by experienced Colombian taitas. The process includes bilingual facilitation, medical screening before acceptance, preparation, meals, accommodation, transport from Medellín or the airport, integration, and aftercare. Standard groups are limited to 12 people. We do not offer drop-in ceremonies or psychedelic tourism.
We also welcome grounded volunteers who want to contribute practical time and skills to the land and community. Volunteer placements are arranged individually according to current needs, availability, experience, responsibilities, and accommodation. Volunteering is separate from residential membership, and participation in yagé ceremonies is never required. Ceremonial suitability is evaluated separately.
Visitors and volunteers must arrange their stay in advance; please do not arrive without confirmation. We are not currently accepting new residential members.
Yaogará is intentionally simple and rural, with mountain weather, shared spaces, internet, electricity, running water, and proper sanitation. We welcome people who value humility, honest communication, respect for Colombian culture, practical service, and responsibility toward land and community.

We are guided by family, collective care, ecological stewardship, humility, and service. We welcome visitors and volunteers into a grounded community environment where what is learned can be carried into relationships, work, family, and care for the wider world.
