What we do

A place where connection, belonging, and a vibrant lifestyle converge. Blue Columbine is located in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, across the street from the 39 acre Prospect Park and the 24-mile-long Clear Creek Trail. Perfectly positioned between downtown Denver and the foothills of the magnificent Front Range, these 3.3 acres offer 39 households quick access to nature and urban convenience as well. We offer a range of community amenities, multiple home types to choose from, shared indoor and outdoor spaces such as a large common house, kids’ play areas, and community gardens spread across our generous acreage.
Blue Columbine Cohousing is a contemporary cohousing community for those who seek connection and community, and friendly supportive neighbors who look out for each other, balanced with privacy in thoughtfully designed individual homes. Special features include easy access to public transportation, and sustainable eco-friendly design throughout the property.

How to join

Members commit to a specific financial contribution in advance, which is converted to a down payment on the member’s property when the project reaches the financing and construction phase. Members join with a deposit payment and receive a spot in the unit-selection queue. Members together make the critical decisions and contribute to the work of developing the project, with advice from our professional team.

Basic expectations or agreements for members

Governance structure

  • Collaborative/Horizontal

Power and responsibility are shared relatively equally among members.

The community works cooperatively through functional circles, such as the Recruitment and Marketing Circle, the Culture Circle, and the Development-Legal-Finance (DLF) Circle. We anticipate further training in sociocracy or similar models of cooperative work and decision-making.
