20mish was founded in 2012 as the first crypto hacker house (fka 20mission), but our community has since broadened to all sorts of co-living seekers — AI entrepreneurs, traveling interns, Burning Man artists, chefs, engineers, musicians, and passionate future-thinkers who are excited about connecting with others in this city!
We have been steadily rising again from the ashes of the pandemic and a year of major renovations and improvements, and have several bedrooms of different sizes available in our 41 unit building in the heart of the Mission. We’re all on one floor with a brand new stainless steel kitchen, co-working office, media room, and outdoor courtyard.
We are an (un)intentional community with the goal of building and maintaining a thriving, eclectic household and extended community in an urban center.
After a tour and selecting a room, a standard apartment rental application with the property management company is required.

A few people (not elected by the broader community) make the major decisions.
Little to no formal governance structure.
We are a low-governance community. We have regular house meetings led by whoever steps up, and have an on-site Resident Manager. There are certain policies we must follow, like keeping things out of the hallways, but our two unofficial community “rules” are:

Members maintain separate personal finances with minimal sharing.

An institution, business, network, or project that isn’t a residence (e.g. a learning center, farm, or network with no one living there full-time).
