ArteSumapaz is a center for art and culture. We are forming two communities on the 240 acre property; the community of homes to be limited to 8-10 homes, and an eco-village comprised of five homes. In both parts, make a contribution for the right to a lot on which they can build their own home.
Our Mission is to nurture the creation of and the connection with art and culture in Colombia, through the respect for and inspiration of natural resources and community.
ArteSumapaz exists to help heal the trauma of conflict and violence; to help artists realize new forms of perception and artmaking; and to improve the awareness of Colombia internationally.
Persons interested in joining the community should come and take part in the AIR program at ArteSumapaz for at least one month, and get to know the space and the community. If the person wishes to join the community, the existing members will vote on acceptance.
Interested individuals should come and take a residency at the center for at least one month.
A few people (not elected by the broader community) make the major decisions.
Decisions proceed unless someone has a reasoned objection.
Organized in circles or domains with distributed authority.
The community itself has its own board of governance, which is represented on the foundation board. We use sociocracy.
Members maintain separate personal finances with minimal sharing.
