The Myth About Successful Community Businesses

About the Workshops

Overview

Can a business really be ethical, regenerative, and financially successful, all at once? In our capitalist economy, financial growth so often trumps the cooperative relationships that hold us together. But it doesn’t have to.

A holistic approach to economics offers a path toward building both community health and wealth. The key is shifting our perspective to build enterprises centered on right relations with ourselves, our planet, and our community.

In this 1-hour free webinar, communitarian and business design professional, Brandon Collins, will guide participants through this fundamental shift in perspective. Together, we will explore successful intentional community businesses, how ecology and permaculture design provide a framework for modeling communal economies, and create pathways to developing businesses that make the extractive economy obsolete.

In this session, you’ll learn about:

  • Key ways to shift your mentality about successful community businesses
  • The ecology (or a whole-systems approach) of Community Economics
  • Using permaculture principles to design a business that is both successful and ethical
  • The Enterprise Models of four long-standing intentional communities (Ganas, Twin Oaks, Sirius Ecovillage, Tamera Ecovillage)
  • What businesses work well for a community? How do I decide the right business for my community?

For those who are...

  • Living in community
  • Starting a community
