Hi, thanks for your interest.
We’re looking for new friends who want to live with us who have an interest in permaculture, simple living close to nature, DIY, rustic (we’re off-grid), egalitarian minded, self-motivated individuals who don’t need someone to “manage” them however they also work well with others. We’ve been here for 20 years but in many ways are still in the baby stages of the community because so much potential exists. We want a healthy atmosphere that supports personal growth and love for one another and the Earth. We prefer non-nicotine users and folks who might only use other substances in small amounts or on occasion. We are looking for people who have a desire to form a family of friends/close neighbors to live and work together to mutually support and uplift one another. It can be challenging to live here because it’s so rustic and different than mainstream however it’s a good situation for some people. Might be good opportunity for a young family, LBGTQ+ welcome. We’ve got 12.7 acres, young permaculture food forest, 30×60 high tunnel hoop-house, pond, gardens, it’s too much for just us :-)
We value feminism, permaculture, cooperation, open communication, simplicity, honesty, nonviolence, and the willingness to resolve conflict.
We are located in rural northeast Missouri positioned within a network of other intentional communities. We have an annual garden, a high-tunnel hoop house, and a young orchard of fruit, nut, and timber trees, all which we garden organically. As far as buildings go, there is a bermed-in small house with attached greenspace, there is a tiny home guest house, a small uninsulated cabin, and a more recently constructed building to house incoming people that still needs some finishing touches but is livable.
We have many systems in place, and we aim to keep our lifestyle simple, yet fulfilling. It means a lot to us to have control over our own time.
Dandelion is a sub-community of Red Earth Farms. (see redearthfarms.org) Our goal is to become a family-style group of 6-14 adults, and we are open to children as well. More living space will need to be constructed as our population increases.
We are looking for self-motivated individuals to join and help grow this egalitarian, family-style sub-community. People who value simple living, personal growth, living in alignment with the universe, living closely with the earth, not spending a whole lot of money, regenerative/sustainable living, non-violent and direct, honest and open communication. Prior community experience helpful. Prior experience living rustic helpful. Enjoy growing, preparing and eating healthy, delicious food a plus.
This is a rustic setting (no running water/hot water on demand/indoor shower, no washer/dryer, A/C or other high-draw appliances). We have telephone and internet, and a small off-grid electical system.
We want others to bring their skills and creative energy to come help Dandelion blossom into an active, thriving sub-community.
