What we do

Comunidad Acuario – A Village as an Act of Rebellion
Friendship as our Primary Social Unit
We are building a settlement in the Colombian Highlands based on a clear principle: friendship as our primary social unit. We are breaking the pattern of using friends merely as gap-fillers for when a romantic partner is unavailable.
The Political Act
As Hannah Arendt noted, isolation is the fundamental prerequisite for tyranny. Those who are deeply embedded in a network of loyal friends are far less susceptible to political manipulation. Building a social immune system is therefore a political act – a rebellion against the isolation that makes modern individuals fragile.
The Method (M. Scott Peck)
To ensure this is not just a nice idea, we use the Community Building method of M. Scott Peck, which is about authentic communication. Our commitment to treating friends with high priority, combined with this methodology, enables us to dissolve emotional dependency on a single person. This is a shared mindset, not a rulebook. We do not issue regulations on personal commitments or force participation. We are looking for people who naturally share this positive alignment and vision.
Autarky on All Levels
Just as we seek to dissolve emotional dependency, we also aim to free ourselves from external systemic dependencies. We minimize external reliance through permaculture, our own water sources, and our on-site manufactory for off-grid campers. We are building our own economic foundation for lasting autonomy.
Intercultural Symbiosis instead of an Expat Bubble
Strategic Social Investment: The investment of our founding partners covers far more than private plots. It finances the collective land, essential infrastructure such as the community kitchen and sauna, and the specialized manufactory including two vans.
Subsidized Integration: This capital enables us to subsidize land acquisition for local partners and skilled people from countries with weaker currencies, ensuring a diverse ecosystem rather than a wealthy enclave.
Security through Shared Value: By creating real local value, we avoid being treated as outsiders. We do not rely on fences; we rely on the strength of our mutual interests.
Asset Security and Exit Strategy
Individual Ownership: Each partner receives their own title deed (PH – Propiedad Horizontal), officially registered in the national land registry.
Political and Ecological Safety: We select high-quality land in a stable, fertile region with private water sources. This ensures long-term safety and productivity, justifying the higher initial investment compared to wilderness plots.
Guaranteed Liquidity: To prevent a trap effect, the founding partners contribute a full founder’s share into a dedicated Community Reserve Fund, ensuring that if a member leaves, their investment remains liquid.
Current Status
I am looking for people to walk this path from the very beginning. We will select the final plot of land together once the core group is formed.
Next Steps
You can find a detailed dossier with the cost structure, manufactory concept, and legal framework on my website. Please read it before we talk.

Mandatory Dossier Study:Review the full documentation on our website regarding vision of radical frieendship, legal and financial structures.
CBW Requirement: Prior participation in a Community Building Workshop (M. Scott Peck) is a prerequisite for membership, as this form of communication is our foundation.
First Meeting: For those who haven’t attended one yet, the CBW in August 2026 in San Agustín is the ideal opportunity for a first personal encounter and integration.
Founder Status: Members of the current core investor group hold the right to select future “Socios de Aldea” (village partners) as the community grows.

Basic expectations or agreements for members

We are currently in the development and construction phase. For those interested in joining or learning more about the project, the best opportunity to meet us in person will be in August 2026 during the Community Building Workshop (CBW) in San Agustín.

Primary decision-making authority

  • All Community Members Together

The whole membership decides collectively.

Decision-making process

  • Consent-Based (Sociocracy)

Decisions proceed unless someone has a reasoned objection.

Governance structure

  • Sociocratic/Circle-Based

Organized in circles or domains with distributed authority.

Conflict resolution approach

Sociocratic Structure & Circles
We organize in a sociocratic structure where operational decisions are decentralized into specialized “Circles” (e.g., Land Management, Social Fabric). This ensures that those directly involved in a task lead the decision-making process through the principle of consent.
One Plot, One Vote
Fundamental community decisions are based on democratic equality. We follow the principle of “One Plot, One Vote,” ensuring that decision-making power is linked to the living unit, not the amount of capital invested.

Economic model

  • Partial Income-Sharing

Members contribute a percentage of income to community funds.

Economic scenarios for this community

  • There is a one-time fee, investment, or share purchase to join the community separate from accessing housing
  • There is a labor obligation

Additional economic information

Join fee: $1300
Labor: Encouraged or suggested
We consider individuals with debt on a case-by-case basis. Our model is specifically designed to allow Socios del Aldea to work off a portion of their investment through labor in our manufactory. However, a basic financial commitment (Arras/down payment) is required from everyone to ensure serious intent. We distinguish between productive project-related debt and external financial instability

Worktrade Opportunities on Big Island Hawaii

We are continuing our work-trade program at Bridge Hawaii for the right people on this beautiful 86-acre land located along the Hāmākua Coast. Ideally, we want to host those individuals who can help with the garden and who can support with build projects for up to a 3 month stay. This work-trade would include lodging, food staples, community kitchen, running hot water showers, off-grid electricity, and laundry. There is access to high speed wi-fi. We often have a car that can be reserved. We also have full bar signal strength with Verizon cellphone service. We have about 2 acres of permaculture garden that needs to be cared for including; weeding, planting, picking up mulch, some tree trimming, ect. We are currently in a building stage on the land. We have a few current grant projects we are working on and some build projects that are underway. We are an intentional community with about 8 permanent residents. There are rescue dairy cows, mini cows, mini donkeys, horses, a donkey, cats, dogs, and active bee hives. We are a drug and alcohol “free” space. A glass of wine or beer with dinner is fine, but absolutely no day drinking or parties. We have a meditation temple and many waterfall pools that are wonderful for swimming. Close to some of the nicest beaches on island. We have snorkeling gear and a kayak. Since this is an animal sanctuary, we limit the consumption of meat on the land. Fish, eggs, honey, and dairy are fine. Let me know if you’re interested by sending an email or text for our application. Maomi (801) 623-0738 ma***@*****************ii.com
