Rootstock Retreat

We believe that the inner landscapes of consciousness, wellness and oneness need nurturing, exploring and fortifying so that the outward work of compassion, restoring justice, dismantling the patriarchy, defending the Earth, decolonizing ourselves and our world, and birthing a new paradigm for humanity can occur. It is the responsibility of those of us alive today to go within and transform ourselves so that we may transform the world.
Because my work and world are very well-established, the path to possibly joining me here at Rootstock lies in, first, simply engaging me and the community through my existing offerings. Sign up for my Discovery Zoom to learn about the medicine practice, come to a community gathering (most are free or sliding scale), or explore my online gathering space called The Spore! and see if you are actually aligned and inspired with me, my community, and my work. THIS IS ESSENTIAL.
If you feel resonance and are inspired by me, the work I’m in service to and have some grounded clarity about how you might add value to what’s already happening here, then it will make time to schedule a call where I can learn more about you, your work, your talent, your purpose, and your vision.
Potential community members will need to be:
Resourced – You will need to come with either your own existing income stream, savings, or willingness to find nearby work offsite to ensure you are a sovereign and stable individual who is not dependent on Beana or Rootstock for your basic needs including transportation, health, etc. Although there is potential to eventually generate alongside and inside the community that is Rootstock, that is not a first step and the first year or two will determine those pathways.
Emotionally Intelligent – The nature of the work at Rootstock is delicate, intense, and dynamic and you will need to have already engaged in your own healing work to arrive here stable and in tact. You know how to communicate your needs, are capable of both receiving and giving feedback in a direct and compassionate way, can channel your stress and emotional life in healthy ways, and are genuinely already a conscious being who enjoys self-reflection, self-cultivation, and self-development.
Flexible – Not in theory, not conceptually…you are actually equipped to change course easily and often as the weather, energy, or the calendar demands. Fluidity and flow guide a lot of the work that happens at Rootstock and anybody wanting to live here will need to be genuinely an easy going person. Consistently, authentically and truly easy going.
Impeccable – Consistency, reliability, detail-orientation, and heart-centered care are a big part of what makes Rootstock a safe place for profound transformation. How I do what I do is as important as what I do and I need for anybody living on this land to also bow at the altar of quality. You do what you say you are going to do, are where you need to be when you say you will be there, have a practiced, well-cultivated work ethic, a knack for making things simpler and more beautiful, and a devotion to lost art of householding and temple tending. I hold a high standard which is why this place and practice are as respected as they are and you will need to arrive at or above that standard if this is to be good for all.
There are other qualities that are important to me but these three feel like a necessary first filter. Although I teach guests and clients how to cultivate these qualities in their own lives, residential life at Rootstock is not a school and anybody coming to live with me will already strongly embody these qualities, live them authentically, and have the humility and desire to keep cultivating them.
