I spent almost six years RVing across the country — mountains, oceans, deserts, woodlands, the sheer beauty of the United States passing by one state at a time. Road-weary, I decided to find home again in Virginia — not the suburbs, not the anonymity of a city. The answer came, ironically, on the cobbled streets of Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay, in winter 2025. Something clicked — I wanted to build a cottage court: smaller houses, shared greens, good neighbors, permaculture nourishing land and lifestyle alike.
In August 2026, I bought a couple of acres in Abingdon, Virginia. I’m not a developer by trade — my career was in justice reform — but I’m a sociologist and a Virginia Master Naturalist who believes a connection to the land is instrumental to our physical and mental health. That belief anchors Blue Ridge Cottage Court.
