What to look forward to in this webinar:

Ecovillages are communities striving to live well and lightly together. From appropriate technologies to holistic health; from sustainable agriculture to group facilitation, ecovillages are integrating solutions within human-scale communities and creating new cultures and “stories” in which we can live well – and lightly. While not utopias, they are developing real-world models of sustainable development that make ideal “campuses” where students can learn about sustainability while striving to live it.

Come learn about the growing ecovillage movement worldwide (e.g., Findhorn, Scotland; Auroville, India; Sirius, MA), the possibilities and challenges of using these communities as contexts for education and social change, and the work of the Global Ecovillage Network, which provides information, tools, examples, and representation to the expanding global network dedicated to demonstrating principles and practices of sustainability in their lifestyles and communities.

Daniel Greenberg’s Bio:

In 1999, Daniel founded the non-profit Living Routes, which partnered with UMass-Amherst to run study abroad programs based in ecovillages around the world. Over 1,500 students were transformed by these immersive experiences. Daniel left Living Routes in 2012 to start a new social venture called Earth Deeds, which offers online tools for individuals and groups to “onset” their unavoidable CO2 emissions and support meaningful sustainability projects. Then, in 2016, Daniel founded CAPE Consultancy which develops Custom Academic Programs in Ecovillages (hence “CAPE”). Daniel has also been a leading advocate for sustainability within international education and the ecovillage movement. He chaired Sustainability Task Forces for NAFSA: Association of International Educators and the Forum for Education Abroad, is co-founder and past Board Member of Gaia Education, and currently serves as President of the Global Ecovillage Network.
