Michael Metelica Rapunzel, 1950 – 2003:

Michael Metelica Rapunzel was the founder of the large Brotherhood of the Spirit/Renaissance Community, which existed in western Massachusetts in various places from 1968 to 1988. He was also the lead singer of the rockband “Spirit in the Flesh”, whose concerts were partly used to recruit members for the commune. He was a controversial and charismatic figure who controlled the commune for most of its existence until his followers rejected his leadership and eventually threw him out.
