You’ll gain a greater sense of clarity and possibility for how your group can align your governance system with your vision & culture. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the event\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nA wise communitarian once said\, the best thing about living in community is the people\, and the worst thing about living in community is the people. And one of the places this shows up most is around governance.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nMost of us have not spent much of our lives in cooperative systems & cultures\, and we don’t magically know how to govern our communities in a collaborative way just by stepping into them. We bring in a lot of baggage along with our idealism. There’s a lot we need to learn and unlearn to do it well\, particularly within a framework of equity and accessibility. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDuring this workshop\, we’ll:\n\n\n\n\nReconceptualize Governance and look at how that applies to ICs and other Cooperative Groups\n\n\n\nReview different Governance modes\, including aspects such as Membership agreements\, Management\, and Decision-making\n\n\n\nExplore the relationship between Governance and other key aspects of Cooperative Groups\, such as Purpose\, Culture\, Conflict Resolution and Economics\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout your presenter\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSky Blue\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSky (they/them) has spent over 25 years deeply embedded in the Intentional Communities Movement as an activist\, organizer\, consultant\, and devoted communitarian. They have lived in seven different ICs and have visited over 130. Sky has served as Executive Director and on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Intentional community\, and worked with a variety of other movement-building organizations. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nYou can learn more about Sky and their work here. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nYou’ll get the Zoom link after you register in your confirmation email. She is personable\, easy to relate to and steadfast in her knowledge of intentional communities. I wholeheartedly recommend her to help guide you in your search for a well matched community! – Joia Holman \n\n\n\nCynthia was masterful. She helped me clarify the intentional communities that fit me\, better get to know them\, and finally choose one that I’m now a member of. She also raised my cultural understanding of community living to help me launch a new chapter of my life. I have no doubt anyone in a community journey will find great value in her guidance. She is also a deeply warm thoughtful soul to work with. – Alan Stillman \n\n\n\nCynthia proved to be an excellent ally in assisting me in my search for ecovillages and communities. She was super-knowledgeable\, thorough\, kind\, thoughtful\, and an excellent listener. She recommended several sites that I had not heard of\, many of the which she had visited personally. I felt very inspired and hopeful after our session — her enthusiasm for the regenerative movement is very infectious and genuine\, which combined with her experience and commitment made her a great helper for finding the best next steps forward for myself. Five stars! – Adam Morrision \n\n\n\nMy session with Cynthia was wonderful. She arrived already very well prepared when we started. Due to her extensive community experience\, she could offer many insights\, provide useful tips and present selected communities to me that she had visited herself. The dialogue also helped me to reflect about what I am looking for in a community… I experienced a safe space where I could express my fears\, hopes and expectations regarding life in community and received valuable feedback from on these. In times of climate breakdown\, what roles do intentional communities focused on living well and lightly play for society at large? In the rising tides and storms\, are they lifeboats\, rescue ships\, and/or parts of a larger flotilla?  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nJoin us for the Role of Ecovillages and the Climate Crisis\, a special fireside chat where we will unpack what ecovillages are doing now for the climate\, how they are engaging with the broader community\, and how they can do better in the future. SUMMARY:6 Surprising Truths About Building Effective Relationships
DESCRIPTION:6 Surprising Truths About Building Effective Relationships \n\n\n\nThursday\, April 25\, 2024 \n\n\n\n\nPacific: 10:00-11:00am\n\n\n\nMountain: 11:00am-12:00pm\n\n\n\nCentral: 12:00-1:00pm\n\n\n\nEastern: 1:00-2:00pm\n\n\n\n\nView your local time here. \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin intentional community consultant and relationship coach Karen Gimnig to learn 6 surprising truths about building effective relationships in community. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the event\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nMost of us arrive in community after decades of living\, working and going to school in mainstream society. In all those years\, we learned a lot about how to act and what to do when we’re with other people. Unfortunately a lot of what was appropriate in competitive and hierarchical environments doesn’t work very well in egalitarian residential communities. We often see that people move into an intentional community without the relational skills to make it work. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nOur presenter\, Karen Gimnig\, will help you to get in touch with your values and how to align your behavior with those values.  Karen has been a member of three different cohousing communities\, served as staff with the Cohousing Association of the US\, and has supported more than two dozen communities as they improved their relationships. With her guidance\, you’ll see how some of the basic things that have worked well for us in other settings need to be reassessed and sometimes changed if we want to maximize our connection in community. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nJoin us for 6 Surprising Truths About Building Effective Relationships\, to get a taste of best practices for communication and connection whether you’re on the journey to starting a community or are currently residing in one. Our presenter will cover these topics and more in greater depth in our upcoming 6-week course\, Communication & Relationship Building in Community.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, you’ll learn about:\n\n\n\n\nThe power of deep listening\n\n\n\nDiscerning how my needs fit with community needs\n\n\n\nMaking and answering requests\n\n\n\nWelcoming disagreement\n\n\n\nThe broad job of facilitation\n\n\n\nSaying things that don’t feel nice\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout your presenter\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKaren Gimnig\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nKaren is a group facilitator\, motivational speaker and relationship coach. Her passion is to help groups achieve their goals for connected and trusting relationships through skill building and personal exploration.   \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAs an Imago Facilitator\, Karen uses the theory and practice of Imago Relationships to guide teams and communities through the complexity of working together. She helps groups and individuals identify root causes of challenges and then walks beside them offering gentle support as they seek solutions.   \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nKaren enjoys working with non-profit organizations\, communities (including communities of faith)\, and workplaces. Her clients describe her as “profoundly effective\,” increasing trust and providing simple (but not easy) tools for improved communication and relationships.  \n\n\n\nYou can learn more about Karen and her services here. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nYou’ll get the Zoom link after you register in your confirmation email. SUMMARY:Cults Explained: An Interview with Steven Hassan
DESCRIPTION:Cults Explained: An Interview with Steven Hassan \n\n\n\nSaturday\, May 4\, 2024 \n\n\n\n\nPacific: 12:30-2:00pm\n\n\n\nMountain: 1:30-3:00pm\n\n\n\nCentral: 2:30-4:00pm\n\n\n\nEastern: 3:30-5:00pm\n\n\n\n\nView your local time here. \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin FIC Co-Director\, Daniel Greenberg\, and Cult Expert\, Steven Hassan PhD\, for a stimulating conversation on the controversial topics of cults. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the event\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCults are the controversial hot topic right now. If you’ve heard one story\, you think you’ve heard them all. Cults with overbearing religious or spiritual leaders\, manipulating people into giving away all of their money\, property\, and rights. And\, it’s no wonder this has been an issue for intentional communities\, since cults appear to resemble intentional communities on the outside–a collective of people coming together for a common purpose. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nGenerally\, we think of cults as bad\, and based on what we’ve heard in mainstream news\, it’s hard to imagine how they could possibly be good. But how do we define good and bad\, and what exactly is the definition of a cult? How do we sift through all of this information to determine what is right for us? \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, you’ll learn about:\n\n\n\n\nWhat\, exactly\, is a cult?\n\n\n\nWhy are cults so controversial?\n\n\n\nWhat do cults have to do with intentional community?\n\n\n\nWho is vulnerable to joining a cult?\n\n\n\nHow do I support someone (even myself!) who may have joined a cult?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout your presenter\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSteven Hassan\, PhD\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDr. Hassan is a licensed mental health professional\, a recognized expert on cults and undue influence\, and possesses professional experience both in the US and abroad. \n\n\n\nHis work encompasses various areas\, including consultation\, coaching\, public speaking\, media appearances\, activism\, writing\, research\, teaching\, intervention\, and recovery services\, as well as expert consulting and testimony to aid individuals and families dealing with issues related to undue influence. \n\n\n\nDr. Hassan’s expertise extends to the realm of undue influence in a wide array of contexts\, including destructive one-on-one relationships\, family dynamics\, parental alienation\, small cult-like groups\, religious cults\, therapy and self-improvement groups\, professional abuse\, institutional abuse\, corporate settings\, multi-level marketing\, political groups\, human trafficking\, hate and violent extremism\, and other challenging situations. He actively advocates for the recognition of terrorist groups as destructive cults and addresses their importance. \n\n\n\nOver the course of his 40-year career\, Dr. Hassan has assisted numerous individuals and families in their recovery from undue influence. SUMMARY:Rethinking the Future of Intentional Communities
DESCRIPTION:Rethinking the Future of Intentional Communities \n\n\n\nFriday\, June 14\, 2024 \n\n\n\n\nPacific: 10-11:30am\n\n\n\nMountain: 11am-12:30pm\n\n\n\nCentral:12-1:30pm\n\n\n\nEastern:1-2:30pm\n\n\n\n\nView your local time here. \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin community veterans\, Crystal Byrd Farmer\, Sky Blue\, and Daniel Greenberg for this panel discussion + Q&A on rethinking the future of intentional communities. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the event\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nGiven the increasingly dramatic impacts of climate change\, economic collapse\, and social inequality\, intentional communities are set to become models for how humans can live high-quality and low-impact lives together. The world will be looking at us! This scenario raises two questions for us\, both as individuals and as communities: \n\n\n\n\nWho will we need to be then? And\n\n\n\nHow will we get from here to there?\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIntentional communities have done a great deal in creating safe\, nourishing\, and sustainable spaces. However\, how can communities measure up to a meaningful impact in the context of larger society? \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nTo truly become pivot points upon which humanity can turn towards a better future\, we need to take a step further; we need to see more collaboration and coordination amongst intentional communities–to create a movement of intentional communities.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThis is the time to come together and use the strength of collective power to be the change we want to see in the world. “Regional self-sufficiency and resilience\, combined with cooperative and equitable economic and political systems\, are our best bet for weathering the coming storm\, regardless of its strength.” –Sky Blue’s Open Letter to Intentional Communities. This event is an open invitation to community members to discuss the future of intentional communities. Collaborate with us on how we rethink the communities movement and help to move towards the kinds of cooperative\, equitable\, and resilient cultures and systems that are needed to create a world that works for everyone. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn this webinar we’ll address:\n\n\n\n\nWhat would a meaningful impact of Intentional Communities look like?\n\n\n\nHow can we create more solidarity\, alignment and collective action in the Intentional Community movement?\n\n\n\nHow can we balance our needs to change the world and to live good lives?\n\n\n\nWhat are major hurdles getting from here to there and how might we address them?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the panelists\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCrystal Byrd Farmer\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCrystal is an organizer and consultant in the intentional communities movement. SUMMARY:Healing in Community
DESCRIPTION:Healing in Community: Learning Emotional Resilience and Processing Somatic Energy \n\n\n\nTuesday\, July 30\, 2024 \n\n\n\n\nPacific: 10-11am\n\n\n\nMountain: 11am-12pm\n\n\n\nCentral: 12-1pm\n\n\n\nEastern: 1-2pm\n\n\n\n\nView your local time here. \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin Emotional Resilience Trainer\, Aaron Kahlow\, to learn how to become emotionally resilient and process somatic energy for healing in community. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the event\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCommunity Life is full of emotional challenges… relationships\, conflict\, meeting disagreements\, day to day “Who left the dishes out” and so much more. We need to come to our community lives (whether we live in community or are just around folks every day)\, with the tools and resilience that are necessary to stay balanced and grounded. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nInstructor Aaron Kahlow has offered Emotional Resilience workshops and Somatic Healing work for many communities\, using the tools you will learn in this workshop. Aaron has realized that so much healing can and needs to be done right there at the heart of community\, and it starts with working on ourselves. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn this workshop we will explore these tools\, practices\, and key insights to thriving in community (and life in general). Join us to learn how to gain access to the much needed emotional support we need and where we all can use a little strength building. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn this session\, you’ll learn about 6 core areas for restoring our emotional well-being:\n\n\n\n\nEmotional Clarity: Ways to get clear on exactly what you are feeling and the feeling behind the feelings to get to the root cause to have clarity on exactly where the work needs to focus.\n\n\n\nEmotional Release & Body Movement: Various somatic and voice activation exercises\, gross or rigourous body movements\, anger ceremony\, grief ritual and more..\n\n\n\nEmotional Clearing & Centering: After we have clarity and a level of release we are in a centered enough state to begin to fully clear the energy and work with what is happening inside of us. This usually involves some small group / circle work to be witnessed in your emotions and process as well as 1 on 1 work with an Emotional RR Practitioner.\n\n\n\nEmotional Healing: Somatic Processing through speaking truth\, body work\, touch on release areas\, “being held”\, reiki\, and trauma processing of wounds to work on directly. 1 on 1 work with an Emotional RR Practitioner.\n\n\n\nEmotional Communication: Communicating our emotional needs and being in relationship with others at an emotional level (think NVC) usually learned through workshops\, course\, program as well as 1 on 1 work with an Emotional RR Practitioner.\n\n\n\nEmotional Groundedness: A sustained state of emotional stability living into and “being” the grounded\, connected\, easeful energy we wish to see in the world and done with through deep sustained efforts in 1 on 1 work with an Emotional RR Practitioner.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout your presenter\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAaron Kahlow\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAaron is a Communitarian\, Emotional Resilience Guide; Somatic Energy worker\, Men’s Work Facilitator\, Spiritual Path-finder\, Social Health Advocate\, and Voice of Truth worker to find clarity and peace in one’s life. \n\n\n\nMore recently you can find Aaron enjoying his land-based community life while teaching\, mentoring\, facilitating and healing those ready to do the work. We were founded in 1967\, and our lifestyle reflects our values of egalitarianism\, ecology\, and nonviolence. We welcome scheduled visitors throughout the year. We are economically self-sufficient. \n\n\n\nMembers work full-time in our community businesses–making hammocks and chairs\, indexing books\, and making tofu. These businesses provide about one-third of our work; the rest goes into the tasks needed to support a rural village of 100 people–organic gardening\, milking cows\, equipment and building maintenance\, office work\, and more. Our work schedules of 42 hours each week are very flexible. In return for member’s labor\, the community provides all basic needs\, including housing\, food\, clothing\, etc. Twin Oaks has an intricate community culture. \n\n\n\nLEARN MORE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAcorn Community\n\n\n\nAcorn Community Farm is an intentional community located in the rolling farmlands and woods of Central Virginia. We are an egalitarian\, income-sharing\, secular\, anarchist\, feminist\, and consensus-based commune. The community was founded in 1993 and has since co-owned and -operated a successful bioregional seed cooperative that is the primary source of our shared income. Membership in the community usually fluctuates between twenty and thirty individuals. \n\n\n\nFull members of the community receive an equal share in the land and its assets\, and in return are expected to work 42-hours per week in the community. This is inclusive of our cooperative\, but also includes garden work\, domestic work\, volunteer work\, carpentry and maintenance work\, and other diverse labor options. \n\n\n\nLEARN MORE \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCambia\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWe are forming an egalitarian and income sharing community in Virginia. We are co-creating a culture of social sustainability and harmony that nourishes us as well as the earth. We focus on re-humanizing the scale of our lives. We do that with slower pace\, balance in our lives\, deep social connection\, natural building\, education\, creativity\, and intuitive structure to our time and space. While we are focused on interpersonal and cultural aspects of our community\, we are interested in building small\, beautiful\, natural housing\, doing our best to be ecologically conscious\, using new and old technologies\, and upholding values of minimalism. We want to continually learn about what works in community and do our best to integrate our lessons into our lifestyle. We are planning educational programs in subjects including experiential natural building workshops\, off grid technologies\, crafts\, and nature awareness. We are working on understanding what makes communities thrive through sociological research. \n\n\n\nLEARN MORE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWho should attend?\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nYou should attend the Virtual Tour of Intentional Communities if you want to: \n\n\n\n\nvisit an intentional community\n\n\n\njoin an intentional community\n\n\n\nlearn more about intentional community\, in general\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nYou’ll get a StreamYard link after you register in your confirmation email. SUMMARY:Death & Dying in Community
DESCRIPTION:Death & Dying in Community \n\n\n\nTuesday\, September 3 & Thursday\, September 5\, 2024 \n\n\n\n\nPacific: 9-11am \n\n\n\nMountain: 10am-12pm\n\n\n\nCentral: 11am-1pm\n\n\n\nEastern: 12-2pm\n\n\n\n\nView your local time here. \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin end-of-life educator Lee Warren for a 2-part exploration of end of life literacy\, death positivity\, and the conscious dying movement in community \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the event\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPart 1: Befriending Death\n\n\n\nContemplating death\, ours and others\, is a deeply empowering practice that allows us to live more fully in the present and gives us access to an immense gratitude for the miracle of our own existence. There is no other mechanism quite as powerful in bringing us face to face with profound awe. Join Lee as she shares her recipe for internal and external processes that help us befriend death. External processes include an overview of the spectrum of end of life paperwork and preparations and after death options. Internal processes include discussions on how to nourish the components of our infinite selves in order to access and enhance our sacred journey with death and come to know that we already have everything we need for a positive and conscious death experience. We’ll also discuss how to create a death literate community wherever you live. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nReclaiming Death and Dying in Community is for folks at all stages of age and health. Intentionally preparing for death is always time well spent and increases the likelihood of having a good death. Paradoxically and unsurprisingly\, these principles and practices lead to a more ecstatic life. Expect educational components\, discussion\, contemplation exercises\, real-life examples\, resources\, as well as active encouragement for practical next steps. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPart 2: The Art & Practice of Community Based Death & Dying\n\n\n\nAs a member of Earthaven Ecovillage\, Lee Warren has been part of a team of folks gifted with the sacred opportunity to steward the death and dying process of many beloved community members. The collective sense of reverence\, connection\, and harmony that arose from these experiences offered a profound deepening of relationships and the creation of community-wide systems dedicated to this end of life process. For all involved\, from the closest death tenders to the funeral attendees\, these experiences have been life changing and heart opening. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDiscover how this group navigates the dying process\, tends to the dead\, designs home funerals and home burials\, supports the expression of grief\, and cares for the caregivers. These beautifully emergent practices have been holistically learned through their humble service and a desire to reclaim the art of caring for our own at death. Specifically\, they garnered this wisdom through the grace of the dying\, the synergy of many traditions\, really good mentors\, and their own innate evolutionary intuition. We’ll discuss death preparedness\, death literacy\, and a whole new attitude of death philosophies that are possible within the context of community. Discover your own doorway to profound mysticism and magic as you embrace all that community-based end of life has to offer. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDuring the Death & Dying in Community workshop you will:\n\n\n\n\nEnjoy death related stories from an emerging ecovillage\n\n\n\nAdapt end of life systems to your own life and community\n\n\n\nInquire into the resources already at hand in your group\n\n\n\nIncorporate emergent death philosophies into your worldview\n\n\n\nUnderstand the components of death literacy\n\n\n\nExplore death preparedness for self and groups\n\n\n\nGenerate enthusiasm for having death based conversations\n\n\n\nImplement small or large changes into your approach to death\n\n\n\nDevelop plans for more death positivity in your world\n\n\n\nExperiment with new ways of thinking about death\n\n\n\nReflect on what traditions are at play in your community\n\n\n\nExperience inspiration and motivation to discuss death preparedness\n\n\n\nChoose systems that support death preparedness\n\n\n\nCelebrate your inner wisdom\, insight\, and guidance\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout your presenter\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLee Warren\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nLee is a devoted community builder. SUMMARY:How to Transform Conflict & Deepen Connection in Community
DESCRIPTION:How to Transform Conflict & Deepen Connection in Community\n\n\n\nMonday\, October 7th\, 2024 \n\n\n\n\nPacific time: 11:30am-1:30pm\n\n\n\nMountain time: 12:30-2:30pm\n\n\n\nCentral time: 1:30-3:30pm\n\n\n\nEastern time: 2:30-4:30pm\n\n\n\n\nView your local time here. \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin embodiment practitioner and relational resilience coach\, Karta Elise Allred\, for a 2-hour workshop on How to Transform Conflict & Deepen Connection in Community. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the event\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThis workshop introduces an integrative map of the human nervous system\, blending science-based\, psycho-spiritual and somatic models into an accessible framework. We start with how to better know yourself in conflict: you’ll learn to locate yourself on this map\, better track your nervous system\, and practice embodied self-regulation\, so you can start to build capacity to be consciously responsive rather than unconsciously reactive when drama arises. The trigger becomes the treasure.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThen\, we’ll shift our attention to understanding others. Deep down\, we all want to be seen and heard\, AND be loved and belong. Through an insightful practice\, you’ll discover how to honor these two essential human needs: for both authentic expression and genuine belonging. You’ll find that when you truly “get” the other person\, you can de-escalate intensity\, build trust\, and pave the way for mutual understanding and effective problem-solving. This workshop offers an intro to tools and practices that are key to transforming conflict and deepening connection in any relationship or community setting. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn this session\, you’ll:\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nUnderstand the relational nature of our nervous system wiring.\n\n\n\nMap how our nervous system behaves — in conflict and in connection.\n\n\n\nBuild self-awareness to better track yourself when triggers arise.\n\n\n\nPractice self-regulation tools to shift out of reactive states.\n\n\n\nGain insight into polarity as a helpful framework for managing emotions.\n\n\n\nLearn tools and practices to really “get” the other in conflict.\n\n\n\nPractice honoring self and others to de-escalate tensions and build trust.\n\n\n\nLearn how the trigger can be the treasure in any relationship.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout your presenter\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKarta Elise Allred \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nKarta Elise is a multi-passionate creative and facilitator with over two decades of devotion to empowering authentic expression AND belonging in teams and communities. She has an MA in servant leadership & relational resilience from Naropa University and an unabashed zeal for people and the living world. Her shapeshifting career has spanned people\, ops\, and creative branding realms\, lending versatility to her coaching and consulting work. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nShe is obsessed with empowering fellow humans to embody the dignity of their authentic expression AND co-create the conditions for genuine belonging\, healthy relationships\, and generative community. As an embodiment practitioner and relational resilience coach\, she guides people to transform the trigger into treasure: to navigate conflict skillfully and deepen connection in order to thrive together. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWhen she’s not serving clients and communities coaching relational resilience\, or freelance writing authentic-voice copy for purpose driven brands\, she’s likely to be found relishing the upkeep of 6 years’ un-missed 2x daily Vedic meditation\, doing qi gong\, and journaling. SUMMARY:Building a Framework to Use Community Resources Effectively
DESCRIPTION:Building a Framework to Use Community Resources Effectively \n\n\n\nTuesday\, October 15\, 2024 \n\n\n\n\nPacific: 9:00-10:00am\n\n\n\nMountain: 10:00-11:00am\n\n\n\nCentral: 11:00am-12:00pm\n\n\n\nEastern: 12:00-1:00pm\n\n\n\n\nView your local time here. \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin community designer and facilitator\, Tristan Holme\, for a 1-hour webinar on how communities can build a framework to use community resources effectively and use it towards making better decisions and becoming more effective and efficient. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the event\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nHow can groups make grounded decisions while using the abundant opportunities at their disposal? Join host Tristan Holme in the exploration of a framework that supports collectives in assessing their resources and making better choices.  \n\n\n\nHow does this look in the real world? \n\n\n\nLet’s say a community decides to run a workshop for the first time. Using their ‘resource base’\, we can draw on Bob’s experience of hosting courses\, Marie’s knowledge of marketing\, Kevin’s catering skills\, and the community’s physical infrastructure that will support the creation of particular activities and experiences for participants. Collecting everyone’s strengths can help make the process of running the workshop more efficient\, while making everyone feel useful and appreciated. \n\n\n\nThis is known as a ‘resource base’\, or ‘inventory’ of community resources. Everyone brings something to the table and is utilized in a way that can make community processes smoother. Pulling together this abundance of community resources is an effective way to plan\, organize\, and make decisions faster and with less stress. Tristan will touch on how best to harness the community’s skills\, knowledge and experience; physical materials\, finances\, living things and the social resources outside of the community\, as well as the community culture and energy available. \n\n\n\nThis framework is one aspect of Values Based Decision Making\, a practical tool that host Tristan Holme has been adapting for use in intentional communities and other cooperative groups. He will provide a snapshot of how this design system might benefit yourself\, your family\, or your community. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn this session\, you’ll learn about:\n\n\n\n\nThe importance of knowing who your primary decision-makers are\n\n\n\nHow you can more your decision-making from the realm of fantasy into a grounded reality\n\n\n\nThe various forms of capital that are held within any collective\n\n\n\nA system for documenting and understanding your resource base\n\n\n\nHow to recognize which areas your group is strong in\, and where there are gaps\n\n\n\nWays of being most efficient with your resources\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout your presenter\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTristan Holme\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nTristan is an intentional community co-founder and ecovillage director in South Africa. Having experienced consistent success employing Values Based Decision Making with individuals\, forming groups and established communities\, he now teaches collaborative groups how to identify their core values and make decisions in a holistic way\, allowing them to create the future they desire. He is also trained in\, and has experience with\, conflict transformation practices and community facilitation. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nYou can learn more about Tristan here. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nYou’ll get the Zoom link after you register in your confirmation email.
