Mission Statement

We seek to build a cohesive community for seniors, organized around ways of working together that will sustain us, and designed with an eye to beauty, accessibility, and environmental responsibility.

Community Description

We have created a core group of active adults 55 and older who share a common dream of aging independently, but not alone. Through word of mouth we found each other. And now, together, we are designing a collaborative community in a beautiful spot right on the edge of downtown Asheville, NC. Our intention is to grow and manage the community such that each of us has privacy, a meaningful role, and mutual support.

Our membership is based on a “goodness of fit”. After initial conversations, we offer a three month Explorer Status to candidates with serious intentions. This period gives everyone involved time to find out if there is a sufficient sync between our values, needs, and expectations to consider becoming good neighbors. As an Explorer, you’ll have an introductory session, participate (but not have voting rights) in general meetings, participate in one or more task-oriented circles, and attend social events. At the end of the three months, we’ll consider the goodness of fit and potential for membership. There is a very modest fee to become an Explorer which is credited toward the purchase of your residence if you move forward to become a full member.
