Powering a Bright Future

Powering a Bright Future
Three-Session Coursebook from Northwest Earth Institute

Powering a Bright Future is a three session discussion course exploring issues related to energy use, and what we can do to take action as individuals and communities interested in promoting energy sustainability. This course contains solution-based content encouraging discourse on energy production and extraction, peak oil, fossil fuel subsidies, energy efficiency, equity, energy policy and environmental impacts.

Powering a Bright Future can also be paired with Change Is Our Choice to create an eight-session course with an emphasis on climate action.

Sample Discussion Questions

  • What is your city or your employer/organization doing to be more energy efficient? If you do not know, how can you find out? If you do know, what role are you playing in supporting their efforts?
  • What are some ways in which the environmental, social and economic impacts of our energy system converge?
  • What inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?

FIC is honored to collaborate with the Northwest Earth Institute (NWEI) by offering these coursebooks in our bookstore. NWEI is a non-profit organization that inspires people to take responsibility for Earth. They do this, in part, by engaging communities, workplaces, and campuses about their role and responsibility to the planet with discussion courses and workbooks. See the other discussion books we offer at the Games & Teaching Aids page.

NWEI’s self-led discussion courses are designed to spark shared learning, shared stories, and shared action. Each course book also includes tips and guidelines to help facilitators organize a course. This course is available in ebook only.
