Propose a Workshop
We are looking for dynamic presenters who can offer interactive and/or engaging workshops. Workshop blocks are usually 1.5 or 2 hrs. While the focus of the event is on intentional communities, workshops sometimes cover a broader array of topics in cooperative and alternative lifestyles. If the workshop is not community specific the presenter will be expected to put the topic in a community context.
The conference site is rustic and mostly outdoors. There is limited electrical access; presentations requiring projectors or other electrical presentation tools can be accommodated if requested in advance.
Presenters are encouraged to participate in the whole weekend. Registration fees are waived and camping is the standard accommodation; indoor accommodations are available for a fee.
Please us send a one to three paragraph workshop description, with title, and a little bit about yourself.

This year the Communities Conference is partnering with EarthDeeds, who is pioneering a carbon “onsetting” program. Click here
for more info on our campaign. We will be soliciting donations from conference participants and others to help onset the carbon emissions of travel to the conference. Donations will go towards projects voted on by our audience.
West Coast Communities Conference, Oct 9 – 11
A sister event is being born! The newly formed
Groundswell Institute in Mendocino County, CA is hosting a West Coast Communities Conference, Oct 9 – 11. The event will be stylized after the Twin Oaks conference and will appeal to the same range of community seekers to community veterans.
Eastern Conference on Workplace Democracy, July 10 – 12
Worker co-ops are an important partner for intentional communities. Held this year in Worcester MA on July 10 – 12, the Eastern Conference for Workplace Democracy
(ECWD) exposes people to the concept of worker-owned businesses; strengthens existing worker-owned businesses; develops relationships between democratically-owned businesses, labor institutions, and resource organizations; and builds the movement for workplace democracy.
