Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat & Conference Center has openings for summer seasonal work on it’s Maintenance Team. ( May 1st – Oct 1st) Carpentry and Renovation Experience Desired. Positions may or may not lead to year-round employment.

Breitenbush is an intentional community and worker-owned cooperative. We all live in this rugged and beautiful mountain setting, 154 acres, and serve thousands of guests year-round. Our emphasis is on service to our guests, each other and to the greater global and universal community.

Here at Breitenbush we:

~ Cooperatively own and run a retreat center in the West Side of the Cascade Range in Oregon with beautiful scenery, hiking and camping
~ Live off the grid and operate our own 50kW hydroelectric power plant and 2 Diesel backup Generators
~ Use and monitor river water for drinking and operate an extensive geothermal radiant heating system
~ Have our own Fire Department & Medical response team (free training available)
~ Have a Snowplow Team that is responsible for keeping the roads and grounds clear during the winter months

Essential Qualifications:

  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and be open to clear, open, and honest communication.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Maintenance, construction, framing, contractor, and/or renovation experience.  
  • Ability to work in a group decision-making system (non-consensus)
    Strong Work and Service Ethic
    Must be Self-Directed! Self-sufficient, mature personalities preferred
  • Given the nature of our work it is important to be flexible and have an outgoing disposition.
  • Community living experience is a plus but not required.

Community Skills:

  • Interest in living in an intentional community (60-80 residents) which in a sense is a small city with all the systems and personnel required
  • Focus on living simply and sustainably in a mountain setting
  • Authentic and clear communication
