Community Engagement Assistant

The Foundation for Intentional Community (FIC) is seeking a Community Engagement Assistant to support the administration and customer service of key public engagement programs, including the Communities Directory and Online Events / Courses. The ideal candidate is energetic and self-motivated, with a passion for intentional communities and helping people to connect more deeply with the FIC. They must have strong communication and organization skills, with exemplary ability to follow through with tasks in a timely manner.

Position Details

Commitment: 35 hours/month, first month trial period

Compensation: $15/hr and increasing based on performance, contracted

Location: Remote position, candidates must be in a time zone compatible with attending meetings during business hours in North American time zones


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Online Events and Courses program support
    • Customer service (email + social media)
    • Manage scholarships
    • Manage certificates
  • Communities Directory support
    • Contact point for seekers and communities
    • Review new listings and send onboarding materials
    • Support development of the Directory
  • Build community engagement
    • Source photos and securing permissions from communities
    • Develop additional engagement opportunities

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Passion for and familiarity with intentional communities, ideally lives in or is starting a community
  • Great with technology, including some experience with Zoom, WordPress, Canva, Slack, MailChimp, and Google Docs or similar softwares
  • Has reliable internet connection and decent laptop/PC
  • Well organized and timely communicator
  • Outgoing and eager to help people with professional tone
  • Excellent verbal and written English
