QIC News Vol.1, No. 2 - Spring 1999 |

Greetings! Yes gang, it's here at last, the monthly that wouldn't die! Our top news is that a beautiful brochure has been developed and printed that tells what QIC is. If you want a copy or copies, send stamps or a SASE. The brochures, along with a cover letter, have been sent to our mailing list of communities, asking them to become affiliated QIC communities. This means each community that responds promises to send me $500 monthly for life. No! Just kidding! (But it's not a bad idea). Actually, each community needs to send me via email or postal mail (and I GREATLY prefer email) an approximately 200 word description of your community. If it's not primarily GLBT, explain how you make us feel at home (life on a satin pillow, chocolates on the bed, easy sex, that type of thing) and how you include us in community life. Tell how visitors can visit if you want new members. Give workshops, gatherings, refer to your website, newsletter, etc. Give email address, postal address, phone number, etc. Everything you want people to know about you. They'll find out what you don't want them to know about you soon enough, believe me! If you can get this to me over the next few weeks (meaning June), I'd greatly appreciate it. I'll get it off to our West Coast Webmaster as I get listings.

Classifieds
Send me what you want to put in the classifieds for Talk to Us This is a reader-driven publication. Let me hear from you about what you want to see, about what you want it to be. QIC exists as a service to its affiliated communities and to queers looking for communities. Communities: Send me information about upcoming events. It's summer and people are traveling. Is your community open to dropins? Ours is, for example. We're just 15 minutes off I-81. Let me know and I'll include your community as a Waystop. I'd like to see people traveling the country able to stop every night at a queer or queer-friendly community. It's like that ad that says, Spend a night or a lifetime. Hope things are going well out there. We've had several welcome visitors recently. We're also looking for people who might want to spend some weeks for room and board in return for working in a beautiful mountain valley.

QIC Communities Calendar:
To put your community conferences, gatherings, etc., on the calendar, just let me have it!
Looking forward to seeing you at the July gathering here. It should be a lot of fun. Write for a brochure. I hope to get the next issue out in July. By then we should have a good idea of which communities will be initially on the QIC website. Pride events are a good place to talk up QIC. For example, I gave a workshop for six people at the Philadelphia PrideFest in May. Not as many as attended the Introduction to S & M, but then we didn't tie people up either! If you want brochures, let me know and we can get them to you. Bye for now. QIC written by Bro. Johannes, The Hermitage, Pitman, PA 17964 |
